Can I use a 'normal' pushchair for running?

I have an Adventure Buggy Co. single/double/tripple (it has extra seats to add to make it a double or triple as required) and am wondering if I can use it for running in single mode? It can be made into a three wheeler, the front wheel can be fixed and all three wheels are the same size. The wheels are filled with that anti-puncture slime. There's no rear axle either so stride length should be ok.

If I wait until my baby is 6mths plus (4mths old currently), would I be able to use this for short jogs? I don't really want to buy a special buggy just for running if I can help it.

I think the key things that my running buggy had that normal buggies don't have were big wheels, good suspension, a handbrake and a wrist strap. I suppose you need to be sure your DC won't bounce around too much, and you can stop in emergencies.

I picked mine up quite cheaply on eBay and got most of the money back selling it so that might be worth a try? Better to be safe I think.

Thanks for the reply. The buggy has all the things on your list except a handbrake. I'll have a look for second hand ones locally and see what I can find.

A practical thing with using a non running buggy is going over small kerbs at pace - most dropped kerbs are not completely flat and you may need to slow down / stop, especially if you're also turning to go along the pavement. Not a safety issue if you slow to a walk every single time, but can be annoying if you can't ever get a decent pace up.
The other thing is turning at speed which is where the big wheels and long wheel base come in, for stability. My buggy has quite a lot of the attributes TooTwee lists but if I am really marching I can feel the buggy tipping if I take a corner too sharply so no way could I run with it.

Personally (apart from the handbrake issue) I might take your buggy on a leisurely jog with a toddler somewhere fairly flat, but not a 6 month old. Since baby is still young I reckon it's worth looking for a second hand one as if you get on with it you'll get lots of use out of it. If you don't you can probably sell it for almost what you bought it for.
