Can't adjust my silver cross pushchair...

Just wondering if anyone else might have had this problem with the silver cross wayfarer pushchair.
Basically my 8 month old has long since outgrown the five point harness at its lowest setting, and I need to move the shoulder straps up to the higher setting. In the instructions it says just to thread the straps through, but every time I try they just get stuck - they are just too thick to fit through. Has anyone solved this issue or am I missing something?

I also need some help with this I actually snapped the plastic bit of the strap trying to thread it threw

Can anyone shed some light on how to alter the straps on our wayfarer pushchair as I can't seem to get them to go through the slots at the back

I gave up in the end and stopped using the shoulder straps, I just tucked them away. A bit rubbish really for silvercross unless there is an easy way
