Baby Jogger Versa GT Carrycot

Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma! So we decided to get the BJ Versa GT and purchased the BJ City Mini Compact carrycot from John Lewis (www.johnlewis.com/baby-jogger-city-mini-compact-carrycot-black/p231347990) but cannot seem to fit the carrycot to the pushchair with the adapters they supplied. I don't really want to purchase the more expensive deluxe carrycot and am not too sure what to do?! Do I need more adapters or something or will the carrycot simply not fit? There are only 3 carrycots available at John Lewis and the third one is the city select carrycot which doesn't fit (so I've been told). Any help would be much appreciated.

That carrycot is the carrycot that will fit (I think) but there are different adaptors for using it on the versa or the city mini. You could try emailing kooltrade's customer service to get the other set of adaptors?

I definitely used that carrycot on my versa but nobody seems to be selling the versa version anymore!

I don't think that one is compatible, there used to be a specific versa carrycot but I can't see it the JL website. I used the deluxe carrycot with my versa, that comes with 2 sets of adaptors. Maybe ebay would have the versa one? The Versa GT pushchair is great though. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't bought the carrycot because my baby would only go in the sling for the first 5 months.

Thanks guys, I rang kooltrade and they confirmed that its not compatible but I insisted that all I needed was the "roundish grey button on the top" adapters so asked them to send me a set (£12). Its worth a try, if it fits then it fits, if not then I will return the carrycot and use a car seat for the first 4-6 months. Nowhere seems to sell the versa carrycot and nothing decent on ebay either.

Ladybunnikins - So you love your versa GT? Did the little one not like the carrycot at all or did he/she only prefer the sling? I was thinking about using the car seat on the GT when going out for walks etc (max 1 hour) would you say that would be ok? Or should I use the sling more so? Any advice would be appreciated.

Poppy I think it depends on your baby, mine always preferred to sleep on me so the sling was much easier. I used the car seat occasionally on the pushchair (more adaptors needed!) but she would still cry in that, unless it was in a car and going at 70mph. The pushchair itself has been great, I love the fold and I've used it forward and rear facing. It is heavy though, I wouldn't be able to lift it into the boot with one hand. If you haven't already bought it, it's worth looking on amazon, the price varies quite a lot and I managed to get it for £283.

My baby was fine in the carrycot, although he was happier in the main seat with a wedge in it from four months. But he didn't like lying flat anywhere!!

A sling is lovely for long walks. We only used our car seat adaptors a handful of times.

The versa gt is still in regular use (although we do have a smaller buggy for buses etc) at 18 months, I love it. The seat is so supportive and the basket is massive. It's also really quiet to push, which you won't appreciate till you've spent some time with a really rattly buggy!!

Although it's super heavy I can get it in/out of the boot one handed but that's because ours is an estate so there's no lip on the boot.

We sold the carrycot for £45 having bought it for £50 so got our money's worth! You'll be able to get more now a versa carrycot is an endangered species!!

Just to confirm, the adapters don't fit. Only BJ Versa or Deluxe Carrycot will fit for those that are looking.

That's so annoying! They must have changed it.

I've heard that a wedge can be installed in the pushchair seat and that can be used form birth, anyone know of any further details and what would be the best fit? Thanks

I used the mamas and papas sola city wedge from 3/4 months, I'm not sure I would have been thrilled with a brand new newborn in it and you can't really fold the seat with it on (you take the whole seat off and leave it flat in the car, so in that sense it's not like it's more annoying than a carrycot!). I think my son preferred it to the carrycot as he HATED being flat on his back with the rage of a thousand suns!

The sola city wedge isn't for sale anymore (I don't think) but I got mine second hand. There's also the silver cross surf wedge, here's agood picture of that one www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silver-Cross-Surf-Nest-/222044445236?hash=item33b2e15a34 (looks very similar to the one I have). I think there's another few brands that will fit - if you search for old posts about the versa on here you'll probably find a few recommendations.

No joy with a secondhand carrycot?

Been looking at a versa carrycot, they are around £60 but all of the ones being sold (second hand) are in red. Was hoping to get anything other than read or purple.

The deluxe is selling for around £100+ secondhand.

I was thinking about getting a wedge, for the first few months use the maxi cosy car seat and then transfer the little one to the seat with the wedge, what do you think? Good idea or should I just forget the carrycot idea and stick to the car seat and then the main seat after say 4-6 months?

Well it depends on your lifestyle! We walked a lot when my baby was small so wouldn't have wanted to be relying on the car seat as newborns shouldn't be in them for more than an hour at a time really.

In your shoes I would get a second hand deluxe carrycot in the knowledge I could most likely sell it on for the same price I got it for (that's what I plan to do if we have a dc2).

But the wedge would be fine from newborn if needs must, I just liked the ease of a carrycot because you don't need to strap them in!

The carrycot has been used just a handful of times (I bought it new but baby hated lying flat) and is in perfect condition and is black.
