Babyzen yoyo weight limit

I've just posted in travel re best type buggy for an upcoming trip to nyc. But have a few concerns that one of the pushchair thread peeps might know most! My dc3 is almost 2 and is 16- poss nearly 17kg by time we travel so that's abit over the weight limit of babyzen yoyo, he looks ok in it now and has napped well but a couple of times the front wheel has stuck in bumps on path and I'm amazed the wheel didn't snap off the amount the buggy lurched forward over trapped wheel.... Is this because he's top end weight limit do you think? Anyone used one with a lacal mini buggyboard? Would it cope with this I wonder? Their website says it fits, any advice be great.

Are you sure your not-yet 2 year old is that heavy? My average-build (but slightly short for her age) 6 year old DD is only 16.5 kg. At that weight they will be too heavy for a standard toddler (1-4 years) stage 1 car seat and as few pushchairs are meant for over 4/5 year olds, I think you're going to struggle to find one, particularly a lightweight travel one, that's OK to that weight limit.

Well I only weighed him on bathroom scale and of course he didn't stand still long but the I'm fairly sure I glimpsed the dial accurately, my 5.5 yr old weighs 20kg+ I have big babies! He was 10lbs+ born (dh tall and broad shoulders) - will def re weigh, just wondered if anyone used the babyzen with toddlers at end of weight limit especially with the wheels getting stuck in path a few times, the bugaboo bee has a higher weight limit but obvs the point of taking babyzen is that I can keep it and use in airport as not a direct flight....also although lascal says its fits mini buggy board I can't imagine how it copes with that although does seem very sturdy I suppose as it's got the curved one handle bar....been to nyc before but not with a toddler 😄

I wouldn't advise using anything over the weight limit where safety is concerned. They're only tested to the limit given and anything over will put a strain on the wheels, joints of the pram etc. NYC (well USA in general) has got high kerbs so lots of tipping the pram to lift the wheels over. Probably not very good with a child over the weight limit on it. I personally wouldn't want to risk my pram collapsing with my child in it.

You can weigh your child more accurately by weighing yourself holding him and then weigh yourself again not holding him, then work out the difference between the two weights.

Thanks everyone, raspberry looks lovely, I have a Phil n teds dot and that has high weight limit, big seat which I love, and you can get a travel bag for it so am consider that option also, will see how heavy he gets before trip end March! Will weigh him holding him etc and double check. He def seems fine in the babyzen for now tho, lies comfortably and it pushes easily, I'd still love any info off people who have used the babyzen on and off planes, last time we flew (with small ish stroller) the airline made us check it in on way home (hadn't on way out) and it was very difficult with the three dc no buggy, even with dh there. I'd like to be more prepared this time, hence the babyzen, I've used it for coulle trips in London and obvs it was excellent on public transport there but ds was only age one then.

When I travelled with mine at 2-3 to Nyc I always just took a sling. Far easier as folds into bag when not needed. They then could walk around and just pop them in sling when they were tired or to nap. Use at airports if need to speed things up but usually made them walk to the plane so they wore some energy out before a long ish flight. Used a boba 4g.

I've travelled with the baby zen three times now and I always chat with the checkin person about how it's one of these new prams that works as hand luggage. That way they don't tag it for taking off you at the gate - much easier than having to persuade the gate person on a busy flight. In my opinion the travel bag (about £45) makes it look smaller and more like a small case but it's a big of a pain to get it into when you're in the q for boarding. You need to take the footmuff off before folding if you're using the bag. Ive had lots of comments - usually mums - about how easy it looks.
