Very tall baby - Moving to the Uppababy Vista 2015 toddler seat

My DS is 3.5 months and 67cm (98 th centile). He's outgrown his carry cot attachment on our 2015 Uppababy Vista and I'm thinking of moving him to the toddler seat. However, he has only a few minutes of head control ability and can't sit up unaided (he slumps and slides down his bouncy chair).

I read about the snuggle seat attachment to allow small babies to use the seat sooner but I'm unsure how it would be for a baby of his length. He's basically the size of a 6 month old with the control of a 3 month old - will the snuggle seat work?

I found a shop that let me try the snug seat, so for anyone with the same problem the seat was hopeless. It's really intended for short babies. When my DS was in it with his crotch in the right place for the buckle his head was dangling off the top of the seat. This was due in part to the wedge used to fill in the back of the seat and have the baby in a reclining position. When he's old enough to sit unaided his bum will go to the back of the seat like any normal chair and then hopefully his head will be supported on the back rest and not jammed up into the canopy.

Hi, not sure if you've sorted this yet. I had a very big baby who outgrew her pram attachment at about 3.5months but was too small for the seat. We had a Bugaboo Cameleon. We got round that by using the car seat on the base until she was big enough for the full seat. Obviously we had to pay attention to timings to make sure she wasn't in it for too long at a time, but we'd have done the same if she was sitting in the normal push chair anyway.

Are you able to attach your car seat to your base to use this as an option?

Hi beanieg4, that's a good idea and i think that's what I'll do - I have a maxi cosi seat that is compatible with my pram chassis. I had originally ruled that option out because of weather constraints (i.e. if it's not waterproof I might as well use my sling and a brolly) but have now found Argos sell a rain cover for that seat for £12 which is ideal :) my walks are never more than an hour or so so it'll be fine.

Incidentally Uppababy replied to my email asking the same question as my original post and they said the snug seat would work for me...I've since replied to tell them that's not true. Really glad I didn't just buy one without trying it!

I have a vista for both my boys. For ds1 (before snug seat was available) I rolled up a towel and supported his head, this was suggested by the health visitor for ds2 who was in the seat from day 1 I used the snug seat, can't remember at what age I stopped but I took the head support out long before the other bits.

Heather before you buy the raincover, which maxi cosi do you have? We have a cabriofix and the uppababy bassinet raincover fits it pretty much perfectly. We tried it one day when caught out and we're pleasantly surprised!

We have a long 4 month old so understand your predicament. He's got maybe a fortnight left in the bassinet. He's got very good head control thankfully so hopefully will be OK.
