Oyster v oyster 2

I decided on n oyster 2 but now I've seen a second hand one which is in great condition for a good price. Can anyone advise me on this? Is the original as good?

The Oyster2 seat lies flat so it's suitable from birth. The original Oyster doesn't, afaik, so you'll need a carry cot if you're looking for wheels for a newborn (at least that was what the blurbs said when we were looking 18 months ago).

We have the original oyster. Pp is right, you'd need to buy the separate carry cot. Also I think the shopping basket is not quite as big (though it's still much bigger than on many other prams!)

I love our oyster, it's great. So long as you can get a carrycot, and are happy with the condition of the second hand one I'd say go for it

Thanks for responses! The second hand one comes with carrycot etc for £150 which seems a good price.

Do you know whether you have to take the seat off to fold it?

You don't have to remove the seat but it's easier to do so and more compact, especially rear facing.

The main thing I've noticed about the new oyster (I've got an old one and come across new ones at work) is the hood - mine drives me demented because it doesn't fold all the way back and the new ones do.

You can sort of click and force the original oyster hood back, I've only just discovered it after months of use! If you get the original and you want a brand new grape colour pack for the carrycot let me know as I've one for sale.

Yeah my hood folds all the way back? Maybe yours is a bit iffy cold?

Hmm...I might have a play but I've read reviews where other people have had the same issue. We hardly use it now that dd2 is 3, I'll be annoyed if I've battled with it for 3 years when there was a solution Grin
