Lightweight buggy with buggy board

Hi, please help me!

I want to get a lightweight buggy, but only want to spend up to £100.

But I also want to fit a buggy board, so I'm thinking an umbrella stroller will be no good as I will have to keep detaching the board.

Can anyone recommend a buggy in budget that works with a board? I liked the nuna pepp (you can get standard version for £89) but I don't think you can add a board.

There was a thread about this recently, apparently the pepp is on the lascal site for the maxi. If the maxi fits I was speculating that the mini would too in reality.

I used a red kite zumi with a lascal mini for ages, folds with the board on. For the standing child to stand inside the handle the hood has to be slightly up. Folding with the board in is not common by the way, so if you're avoiding an umbrella fold thinking most other things will fold with the board attached... They don't. So if you prefer an umbrella fold go for it, the lascal boards clip off in literally a second.

That's good to know it clips off easily, I was imagining it would be a faff!

Taking the anchor straps themselves off is a faff but popping the board off... Not at all, depress a button on each side, job done.

Here are the maxi fitting instructions for the pepp. Now I see why the mini won't fit, the connection is really unusual.

The whole thing is a headache! I've read one website reviewing the nuna pepp saying it's not buggy board compatible, lascal says it is, then I see someone sellig one on gumtree because their buggy board didn't fit! I've emailed them to see what buggy board they were using!

I ordered the nuna pepp too tortoisesarefab ! I got impulsive last night before bed. Now Im going to order the buggy board and hope for the best!

Let me know how you get on. Did you order the luxe version or the £89 one?

No, just the cheaper one. Mine was £110 because I wanted black. My youngest is 18 months so don't need the luxx. Can't wait for it to come, looks like a fab buggy

I was cheap and got the yellow one, hope it's not horrid!
The lady that was selling one on Gumtree because it doesn't work with her buggy board replied and said she was using a lascal but there was no where for her child to stand with it on... I'm a bit nervous now... But as my ds has been getting by standing on back bar of my bugaboo in hoping he will cope!!

Looking again at the lascal fitting instructions it can only be used when seat is fully upright.

Oh no. I really need this to work, it says on the lascal site that they stand in front of the handle which must be extended I presume. It doesn't bother me that the seat needs to be upright because my youngest is 19 months and won't really sleep when out anyway

Me too...I don't want the hassle of returning it either!

I'm not too fussed about the upright thing either, it doesn't look that upright anyway so I think baby could nap in that position. Although I want to use buggy board ds1 won't be on it all the time, so I don't want it to overly influence the decision, the Nuna pepp ticks so many other boxes!

We will both have to report back one they arrive Smile

I think you will be fine. Especially as the images on the lascal site are quite clear. If you attach the extension arms to the maxi and fit the anchor things on that black upright shown in the close up photo I don't see why it wouldn't work. Equally I can totally see how if you didn't have the lascal images to go from you would assume you couldn't fit a board at all. The fitting point isn't exactly in obvious place. Most pushchairs you would attach to the rear uprights, or axle if you can't use the uprights for some reason.

I have literally never come across a pushchair that one lascal or the other hasn't fitted to... and I have come across many many pushchairs over time 50, probably more. Not allowing the seat to lie flat and the board child under the handle is common. The pepp is a bit different because the board is fixed so far forwards on the chassis with the extender arms on already for normal use. On other pushchairs if you need to lie the seat flat you can usually extend the board back so the child is outside the handle. Which is awkward to push but physically possible usually. Because of the unusual fitting on the pepp you can't do that.

That's interesting ihateparties I wouldn't want ds1 behind the handle really that does sound awkward to push. I think I've made the right choice, thanks for your replies, they've been really helpful. Excited for it to arrive now!

How you getting on tortoisesarefab ? Mine all arrived yesterday. Buggy board fit fine and he seems to have plenty of room, yet to go outside for a test run yet though!

I Love it ihateparties such a nice buggy for the money. It still feels sturdy with board on and easy to push. I guess the real test will be when I go outside with it! It's so easy to put up and down. A lot of people have complained that the harness is fiddly...it's 5 point, but all comes apart when you undo it. Although it's more fiddly to do up, I like that it's completely undone, you can just pick baby up and not have to untangle limbs from straps.

I had to use the extenders with the buggy board otherwise it interfered with the wheels.

Just in case anyone is interested, I set up the nuna pepp with the maxi board last night. The extenders need to be on the farthest point but the board actually fits quite well. Without the hood there is plenty of room for the elder child to stand but with it, less so. My Ds is short tho so that may be why. I just moved the hood down the frame a bit and that have him more room. He is quite happy on it and he is inclined to stress out if he doesn't feel safe. The buggy feels a lot more stable with the board on than I thought it would. I suspect it would be a bit tippy up and down high pavements but I think that would be the case with most lightweight buggys. The pushing position is very good. I don't feel like I would kick the board at all. The seat does need to be upright but that doesn't bother me at all as my dd would sleep in that position anyway. The buggy itself folds easily and compactly. Hth

Sounds great, although it seems rudimentary not feeling like you're going to kick the board really isn't that easy to find!
