wanting another pram

so dd is 10 months old and i'm getting the urge to go pram shopping again. i really like the icandy peach.
i have a silvercross 3d in the shed from previous dd, a baby merc junior sitting unused in the kitchen, and an oyster. i have just given away a graco and will probably give away the baby merc whch i only used for six weeks. it was way too big. i like my oyster and have used it daily for just under 10 months now so starting to get bored. i have never used the main seat for oyster so its like brand new. i still use the carseat with it as dd is still smallish.
anyone have the icandy peach? i've been looking on gum tree, pre loved and ebay, but i don't want to end up with one that falls apart in months cos the other half will kill me.
this would defo be the last pram as we are not planning to have more kids.
what do you think?

I managed with a hostess trolley for DS.

Newfangled nonsense.

Arsenic · 01/02/2015 18:00

With straps Luis or did you just plant him firmly in the pavlova and hope he stuck?

Artandco · 01/02/2015 18:02

You know car seats on pram aren't for daily general use right? They are for poping into doctors/ post office/ to get milk quick. It's really not good for babies spine and lung development. In very surprised your nurses at hospital didn't drum this into you with a prem baby. We were told prem baby = no more than 30 mins max, bigger baby 2 hrs max but not daily, and not where possible

Sorry, can't you just use seat on oyster until you no longer need a pram?

tippytap · 01/02/2015 18:05

Maybe the OP's hairy hands keep getting caught in the current pram and that's why a new pram is required?

LuisSuarezTeeth · 01/02/2015 18:06

Straps? Lord no he learnt to hang on to the handles at 2 weeks.

wheresthelight · 01/02/2015 18:07

I have had several prams/pushchair systems since dd was born -all second hand and never very expensive.

I had the 3d too but after a few weeks I hated it as it was too heavy and such a bloody faff to set the pram up. I then got a quinny zapp extra but found it useless for dog walking as the frame was too light and bendy so I bought an oyster which got a stress fracture so I when I found a lady flogging a brand new mamas and papas zoom for £20 I grabbed it and love it!!

I don't like the oyster seats, it was fab for the car seat but dd absolutely hated being in the seat as it didn't lay flat and was really hard even with an extra liner in. I also have a mamas and papas sport for "off roading" as dp puts it Grin but we live in a very hilly walking area and normal pushchairs don't last 5 minutes being battered about walking the dog.

if you like ot and you can afford it or can seel the other ones tp fund ot then go for it!

people on here can be really nasty!

Unless you are getting one that can fly, make the dinner, do the housework or something else really useful then realistically a new pram is going to do exactly the same as every other pram you own does. Obviously it is between you and your OH what you spend money on, but bored with a pram seriously!

Hamiltoes · 01/02/2015 18:10

Why would you put your baby in a car seat instead of the actual stroller seat?

Sorry but this seems like madness to me. Surely at 10m they will be a mix of napping and sitting up, and they should be laid back to nap and upright to look around?

I just can't see that this is very comfortable for baby or good in the long term. I thought most manufacturers reccomended 2hrs at most. Why would you buy a new pram with a seat when you have a perfectly good seat not used? If you are "bored", use the seat! Hmm

AuntieStella · 01/02/2015 18:13

Are you really 'bored' with all 4 you currently own?

As you are clearly affluent, buy what you want, but don't bang on about it.
The equally affluent will think it's vulgar, and those of us who never ran to that amount to spend on pushchairs might just think it's horrible.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 01/02/2015 18:18

Well you can spend your money on whatever you want so YANBU to buy another pram.

However car seats aren't designed for daily use whereas the pram seats are. DD was in her carrycot until 5-6 months then in the main seat. Car seat only for very quick trips as they are not great for a baby's posture and airways, however small.

whatawhoppa · 01/02/2015 18:19

i was going to donate the others to a lady i know who works with families in need. this was my justification for getting rid of all three and getting just the one.
she is not in the seat for long periods, due to awful cold weather we only do th school run and big shop. i'll try the current one with seat first.

Arsenic · 01/02/2015 18:24

You think that has the potential to be less boring? Confused

2boysandcounting1 · 01/02/2015 18:28

I have a silver cross freeway which is now over 4 years old for my dc3, used it with each child and still love it now. Will be sad to see it go when I don't need it any more so I have the opposite problem and am to attached!Grin

FuckOffGroundhog · 01/02/2015 18:36

SOme people see their pushchairs as an accessory. It's the same as one over on Style and Beauty saying they are bored of a bag they have, and they want another. I'm not a pram obsessed person myself but can't really see why anyone is having a go?

Shit I know people who got new cars because they were bored of the ones they were using.

Such a weird reaction.

whatawhoppa · 01/02/2015 18:37

thanks wheresthelight i liked the 3d, i bought it second hand 6 years ago. i did use it quite a bit but it is a pain to open and fold andwith the weather i dont want to be messing about with it. the oyster is only recommended for 6months onwards as it dont lie flat which is why i use the car seat option.although she is 10 months, she was prem and is a lot smaller. so anyone who wants to judge me for that should take that up with oyster.
we have a different car now so the other one doesnt fit in the boot. it wasnt expensive and i could happily give it away to someone in need.
either way i am giving atleast two prams away to a centre who passes on to families in dire need. its where i donate all their outgrown clothes.

OP posts:
Artandco · 01/02/2015 18:40

What - no ones judging. But why did you think a pram suitable from 6+ would be suitable for a newborn onwards? You must have known you would have 6+ months where baby would need an alternative lie flat option, not the car seat. Anyway it's too late now, I would just use the seat now baby is 10 months.

Cupcakes123 · 01/02/2015 18:42

I get pram envy. I am secretly lusting after an I candy too, my DP will go mental if I buy one though Hmm

whatawhoppa · 01/02/2015 18:44

fwiw i do not spend my money on clothes, shoes, handbags etc. anything i buy is for the kids. i dont drink and i dont smoke. this seems to be my only weakness. i am far from affulent as someone suggested. i do work, but this seems to be my vice. i never gave prams a second though before having children.

OP posts:
Arsenic · 01/02/2015 18:45

OP's solution doesn't seem to fit her 'problem' though FuckOff

JassyRadlett · 01/02/2015 18:50

In any case, the seat on the Peach isn't the biggest - loved ours but DS was cramped in it by about 18 months.

magpieginglebells · 01/02/2015 18:52

I'm another who doesn't understand this (and everyone I know has one pram). My opinion is if you genuinely want to spend the money on your child then put it aside in an account for something that will be genuinely useful.

whatawhoppa · 01/02/2015 18:58

really jassey? that is interesting. i thought it looked bigger than the oyster and more comfortable which was part of why i wanted one. its not just that i'm bored. there wre a few factors overall

OP posts:
BlinkAndMiss · 01/02/2015 19:01

I had an iCandy peach, at 10 months I was looking at lighter pushchairs as it was heavy and you had to take the seat unit off to fold it and get it in the car. DS was big at 10 months and had outgrown it completely by 18 months - it cost a fortune, there is no way I'd spend that much money on a pram for a 10 month old. I had bought it with the intention of turning it into a double, DS is 2 and DS2 is due in June but we can't use the damn thing because DS1 has outgrown it. I bought a stroller when DS turned 1 and it was much easier.

CaptainAnkles · 01/02/2015 19:01

I don't think I 'get' pushchairs or bags. They all look the same to me, barring those weird things with three wheels. That's on pushchairs, not handbags.
