Baby Jogger City Mini Carrycot or get a cocoon?

What's the best way to put a newborn in a city mini - have heard the compact carrycots don't have a long life before the little one is too big, but with a winter baby coming soon, am wondering how people make it snug? Thanks for any advice on whether to get a carrycot and or what else people do.

I think it kind of depends on when you feel they're too small for the carrycot. If it's when they're hitting the sides with their hands, then yes thatll happen fairly early on. But thry're still happy to sleep in it so it's not a problem. If I remember correctly the compact is 77cm internal length, and even at a year that is about the 90th percentile for length (for girls). They'll probably start rolling / sitting before they technically grow out of it. We have the new deluxe carrycot which is slightly longer and deeper, and I'm planning on keeping DD (2m) in there til she's really wanting to look around more. At the moment though she falls asleep instantly when I start pushing her! She's certainly very cosy on the carrycot and personally I wouldn't want to use a cocoon in the forward facing buggy when they are so small.
There are quite a few second hand compact ones on eBay - really good condition cos they only get used for a few months. You might get a great bargain...

My daughter is now 5 months old and has grown out of the compact carrycot. She is quite a little baby so I imagine this happens sooner for most. I now use a kaiser cuddly bag which I bought from Amazon. It fits well and looks comfy.

I second the recommendation for the deluxe carrycot. It's enormous! And really lovely quality, v cosy and the apron comes up nice and high to keep the wind out.

We'll probably use it with the kaiser cuddly bag inside it rather than blankets for extra warmth (a lot of time will be spent on the side of a football pitch!).

Thanks, really helpful. I have been planning on looking on ebay for one, so fingers crossed. I'll also look into the Kaiser cuddly, haven't heard of that until now. Thank you.
