To cut a long story short,
I have a bugaboo cameleon3 that was purchased by my friend who works at john Lewis.
She got a discount. As a result, the puschair is in her name, and she had it delivered to her address then brought to my baby shower.
The puschair was purchased brand new in August 2013.
Last weekend whilst out with my son, the handle bar broke and I was furious!!! It was incredibly unsafe for my son and so I took it straight back to john lewis who gave me a replacement bee and sent the cskeleton off to be repaired.
I receive a phone call from john Lewis stating bugaboo won't fix as out of warranty, even though I have supplied proof of purchase!!!!!!!!
The serial number on the chassis indicates that the pushchair is 2 years old, and that is wrong!!! The puschair is 14 months old and under warranty yet despite prof of purchase bugaboo do not believe me!!
As puschair in friends name they won't speak to me about it when I rang, are not sympathetic to the situation and my sons safety and insulted me by implying the pushchair is out of warranty and that I must have got it second hand.
I don't know how the chassis has a different date!!
John Lewis are fighting with bugaboo to get this sorted.
I have sent a nasty email to bugaboo to complain.
I feel let down by bugaboo, why have I invested £800+ in a puschair that is not fit for purpose?!!!!!! Then to make matters worse they won't even fix for some unknown error to me?!! Not to mention the risk they out my son in!! A pushchair of this kind should not develop such a fault!! Not after 14 months!!
Anyone have any advice, I'm leavng john lewis to sort but I'm getting stressed!!

That's crap of bugaboo, if John Lewis are dealing with it it will either get sorted or I bet they will give you a new one, John Lewis are usually good like that.

I guess it could have been stored in a warehouse a while before sale hence the date? But that's not the point.

Sorry bugaboo are being crap I have always found them very good.

TarkaTheOtter · 03/11/2014 21:10

John Lewis will sort it for you.
It surprises me about bugaboo though because they sent my friend out a replacement part free of charge when the second hand chameleon he bought from ebay developed a fault.

Thanks guys. I think this may take months to sort out!
I will never spend another penny on a bugaboo product again to be honest.
The way they have behaved has been appalling. To me it seems they do not care about the children we ferry around in their expensive puschairs!!

If you've already got a replacement from John lewis what's the problem?

Steelojames · 03/11/2014 21:20

The replacement is not the same model, it's old and not the pushchair I purchased. It's ok for now as better than nothing and gets my son from a to b but it's just a loan puschair.

I think what John Lewis are doing with Bugaboo is irrelevant. I'd be quoting the sale of goods act and asking John Lewis for a replacement or refund as the product is not fit for purpose.

Your contract is with John Lewis, not bugaboo.

Steelojames · 03/11/2014 21:33

Yeah I think I will have too.
This just isn't good enough...they acknowledge I'm within warranty but say we just have to keep trying Bugaboo...John Lewis being absolutely useless!!
Expecting a call back tmoro so will see what they say, if not good news I will have to take further action. I'm not letting this go without a fight.

Im certain John Lewis will sort it for you. As anything says your contract is with them and not bugaboo and they absolutely won't not honour the guarantee. I've had a couple of issues with items bought from them and their customer service had always been outstanding, they're obviously trying to get it sorted out with bugaboo and need a chance to do that, if bugaboo won't co operate though I'm certain they will resolve in another manner for you.
