queries about secondhand P&T e3 with double kit

We got a secondhand Phil & Ted's e3 with the double kit for my husband to use to walk 2.5yo and 11 week old home from the childminders. Bub will be below in the cocoon and toddler up front.

The support in the sunhood is broken (not the metal frame thing that slides through it and then hooks into the frame, but the internal plastic bendy support that keeps the sunhood from collapsing). My fault as I put the sunhood in the washer and it must have snapped while it was in there. It actually broke and came poking out of the sunhood as I found it in three pieces as I was taking everything out of the machine, so no putting it back in.

Part of me thinks not to worry about this for now because he's only using it to walk them home and with the time change it will be dark when he does this anyway, so no need for the sunhood for several months. But when it comes time to use it, can I use it without this support or do you reckon the hood will droop onto toddler's head?

We have the double raincover with it but it appears to need the sunhood on the stroller in order to support it - so obvious problem here!

Lastly, I see there are double UV covers for it and thinking ahead to summertime, has anyone used these and which ones are compatible with the e3 w/ double kit - looking at them online they all say they are for Classic, Sport, Explorer etc and I can't figure out which one is compatible with the e3 with the double kit. In my defence, I have a raging chest infection and have slept 4 and a half hours in the last 40 hours (too much with the coughing!).

Thanks everyone for your help - we start using it a week from today, I should have sorted this sooner!

I had a P&T Sport. You need the hood to support the rain/sun covers, otherwise it will droop on the face of the toddler in the top seat.

Thinking about it, I think you just mean the plastic edging bit. I think you'll be ok. The support provided to the covers stops at the metal/wire frame thing.
