Pushchair addicts, buggy geeks: watch out overdrafts, it's the return of the shed

Inspired by discussion on 'is it crazy to buy a new pushchair for my 3yr old', this is a place for buggy obsessives big and small (the buggies, that is) to chat.

So, what r the signs for u that u r obsessed? What would the perfect buggy be?

nwilson12 · 17/11/2014 15:25

sweet No it hasn't :( There was a delay so it is due to arrive tomorrow! Fingers crossed! Will let you know asap what I think. Have you seen Tiggywunkle's latest photos on best buggy comparing it to other ones? www.bestbuggy.co.uk/2014/11/icandy-raspberry-vs-bugaboo-bee3-vs-easywalker-mosey-vs-stokke-scoot-2014/

Nwilson - has it arrived now?

I seem to have just taken receipt of a BJCMGT Blush

I love it!!

nwilson12 · 19/11/2014 17:51

hiccup yes it arrived yesterday. First impressions are good, its a nice quality pushchair. I need to have a proper play with it and figure out how it all works. The only thing I don't like is the length folded, there a big gap between the seat and the handlebar. I assume this is because it can fold with carrycot on but it seems a waste of space for the seat unit and is a lot longer than the bee and versa I currently have.

Glad you like the bjcmgt, another nice buggy. I had one but it wasn't for me as I missed parent facing.

Ihateparties · 19/11/2014 18:15

It doesn't look a lot longer than the bee in the photos but it's hard to tell. On the plus side it looks flatter than the bee folded.

nwilson12 · 19/11/2014 19:05

That's what I thought, the photos are a bit deceiving. Its about 10cm longer than the bee. Its definitely not flatter, its about 40cm high folded rear facing, not tried forward facing yet. Its similar to the oyster seat folded. I like to put pushchairs in lengthwise so I've got space for everything else I usually have in the boot. Good thing is that as the seat is compact there is space for shopping in the gap unlike the bee. Photos in the boot of my zafira.

Ah, so the bee fits that way, the mosey doesn't? Awkward, although because of the shape more things could sit in that space between seat and handlebar than they could with the bee.

I've never had a boot that gave me a choice which direction any pushchair went in Grin

nwilson12 · 19/11/2014 19:47

The mosey does fit that way but only just and the front wheels have to be in a certain position. Its the longest pushchair I've come across and tried in the boot. I'm spoilt by having a large boot so it can go both ways, its just I prefer it lengthwise.

nwilson

Apologies for crashing the thread but I'm currently struggling to decide between a versa gt and the mosey. I wondered if you could tell me which you prefer?

I'm looking for something parent & fwd facing, suitable for country village life (although no extreme off roading) a good one handed push and a compact fold for the boot of the car.

Any advice you can give about the differences between the two would be so helpful!

SupermansGirl · 19/11/2014 21:58

Now this is my kinda group (my boyfriend says im an advert for mothercare). My DD isnt even one yet and iv had 5....now some people have said im stupid (normally old bitter woman that look down on me because im a young mum) but i say atleast i spend the money I WORK FOR on my child and not pointless crap?

nwilson12 · 19/11/2014 22:48

captain It's a hard one. I really like both the mosey and the versa. I just have the standard one not the gt and it copes fine on uneven ground, rough grass, cobbles etc. The reason I got the versa was for exactly the same reasons as you and because the bee can't handle that sort of terrain. The fold on the versa is amazing, it's so compact and flat. (photo in the car boot) As you can see it is quite a bit shorter than the mosey.

However I do find it heavy to lift in and out of the car. I normally keep the bee in the car and leave the versa in the garage and wheel it out when going on walks or use it for days out as the basket is massive. I also struggle a bit trying to fold it as you have to pull up the handle under the seat, it normally takes me a couple of attempts. The versa is nice to push though and doesn't feel heavy and is easy to manage one handed even going up a pavement hill.

I've not used the mosey outside as I'm still trying to decide whether to keep it. There are good reviews of the easywalker mini and june buggies so I'm assuming it's similar to them in regards to pushing. It's lighter than the versa and narrower which is good and it also has the lie flat seat which is a plus for me, I do prefer them to bucket seats. I like the fact that the hood is huge and the back chassis bar is raised up so you won't kick it when walking. I do prefer the handbrake on the versa over the mosey footbrake.

As I said in post above, the only downside for me is the folded length. It is still compact compared to other pushchairs I've had and a big advantage like the versa is being able to fold in one piece in both directions. My 3 year old also fits in both pushchairs fine with room to spare so they would both last long term.

They are both really nice and I think you would be happy with either of them. The mosey probably wins as it is more compact all round and lighter and I could (maybe) sacrifice the fold on the versa. I would definitely measure your car boot though to make sure the mosey fits.

Hope that helps, feel free to send me a private message if you have any other questions or want photos.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 20/11/2014 08:27

Would the versa seat fit on the select? And vice versa?

Tiggywunkle · 20/11/2014 21:40

Yes the Versa seat will fit on the Select but it isn't safety approved. If you put the Select seat on the Versa, then the same applies plus the seat doesnt fold in half to fold.

I agree about the Mosey handlebar, but its a small thing compared to everything else that is so good about it.

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 20/11/2014 23:26

Thanks :)

CaptainMorgansMistress · 21/11/2014 19:49

nwilson

That's so helpful, thank you!

Have you decided whether you'll be keeping your mosey yet? I'm still so torn between the two!

nwilson12 · 21/11/2014 21:06

captain I'm liking it a lot more after playing around with it. My one year old seems to like it as he keeps trying to climb in! Here are a couple of photos of my versa next to the mosey. Maybe help you decide. You can see the mosey is a lot more compact. After lifting both side by side I can definitely see the weight difference too.

How does it compare to the versa to push? I know you're keeping in inside for now but you have enough pushchairs knocking about for a reasonable comparison Grin

Dd2 is 2y9m, I am the very definition of don't need one but it's very hard to resist.

nwilson12 · 21/11/2014 22:48

Lol, that's why I'm on this site! I'd say its very similar to the versa. I've pushed it over a few obstacles and it goes over them easily and feels quite smooth.

lentilpot · 22/11/2014 19:22

Ooh, what footmuff do you have on your versa there? X

nwilson12 · 23/11/2014 10:24

It's a universal john lewis one, it's ok but does slip down a bit as there is nothing to attach at the top

sweetmelody · 24/11/2014 13:21

I've ordered a Mosey! Never seen one in the flesh (yes, slightly insane me), but have just bitten the bullet and gone for it thanks to nwilson's invaluable help and advice.

nwilson12 · 25/11/2014 16:16

sweet hope you like the mosey when you get it. I've decided to keep the mosey and sell my versa. Took the versa round the city centre at the weekend which I never do but I wanted to try it out and that decided it for me. So the mosey is staying :)

CaptainMorgansMistress · 25/11/2014 22:12

Oooh nwilson - what was it that finally swung it for the mosey over the versa?
And how have you found the mosey now you're out and about with it?

GoMommaItsaBargain · 27/11/2014 13:50

Lovely buggy thread just been reading through! The mosey sounds super.....since I last posted I have been loving my phil n teds dot v2 ..... And my bee 3 has been residing in the car boot..... Rarely used as I realised over the last couple weeks, I walk loads (with the teds) and mainly if having driven somewhere the baby (dc3) prefers to sit in a trolley..... Arches back and refuses to sit in bee once been in a highchair for lunch etc..... End up pushing empty bee, carrying huuuuge 11 mnth old and wishing had a trolley!! (Presume he likes these as high up and can see mores?!) when he can toddle I will most likely be pushing empty stroller so am thinking bee will need to go..... Furthermore dot would fit easy enough in boot and the bee 3 is fairly disappointing push over anything other than smooth shop floors....I dislike the thin new hood, baby can sort of push it out of shape easily despite young age, and the front wheels don't corner well, the seat fabric seems cheap especially having had to attach it yourself....weird as bee plus seat was nicer for the high price, it is sturdier in the chassis though and looks sooooo nice but still doesn't quite cut it somehow.... Maybe I need a mosey too!!

nwilson12 · 29/11/2014 16:25

captain I normally take my bee when going round the city (Edinburgh) but thought I would try the versa (1st time using it somewhere busy). Edinburgh is quite hilly and I just found it heavy pushing it. OH had to help me at some points. Also found it really long and kept catching peoples feet!

Still haven't used the mosey as there was a minor issue with it which Easywalker are fixing (excellent customer support). The addict in me is coming out again though as I really fancy trying a bugaboo cameleon/frog just to see what it's like as everyone was using them in the city centre!
