Uppababy VISTA or iCandy Peach?

I think we have narrowed our choice down to these two prams (although the Bugaboo chameleon is still a close contender) can you help alleviate concerns I have about both?

VISTA
Often recommended for tall people -I am 5ft 4 – will this be a problem?
The size of the back wheels around shops/coffee shops – how much of a problem is this?

iCandy Peach
It’s quite heavy – how do you find lifting it in and out of the car boot?
Clicking noise that the hood makes – is this true for the new model?
Is it really worth an extra £350?

We will mainly use the pram to walk around town and in and out of car (rarely use public transport).

Any experiences and advice would be very welcome, thank you.

We had the same when we bought ours and went for the Vista. I wouldn't be too worried about the height as I am 5' 6" and it's fine. It is wide but you get used to it. We couldn't justify the icandy as it was so much more. The carrycot on Vista is also bigger so we thought would be good if we had. Big baby, didn't in the end and had 0.4 centile tidler! Vista is also ok for overnight sleeping and the icandy needed another mattress so more expense.

Love my vista and wouldn't swop it for anything.

No pram is worth the cost of an iCandy...Hmm

We'd have got an Uppababy Vista if it had fit in our boot - we went for the Mamas and Papas Sola in the end.

That was for DS1, anyway. Now we're onto DS2 and using a sling an eighth of the price of the pram which is now gathering dust. It also folds up and fits in the changing bag when not in use. Wish I'd never bothered with the expense and hassle of a pram TBH!

We had a Vista for Dd2 and only replaced as expecting Dc3 and wanted a tandem, so got a Baby Jogger City Select (which by the way is amazing as a single so well worth considering).
If you think you might want to make it into a double in the future then The BJCS is a good option, or I think the icandy one onverts to a tandem too.
I personally don't like the look of the Icandy.
Second what others have said about the Uppababy vista bassinet- its a massive, lovely, proper carrycot.

Oh and I am 5 ft 4 too AMD found vista fine- DP is 6ft 4 amd also found it fine as the handle is adjustable at the touch of a button.

Sorry, I should have read the op properly the first time. The only thing I would say about the back wheels on the vista is that they take some getting used to- they aren't massoveoy wider than lots of prams I don't think, but they are much wider than the handle, which for me has the unfortunate effect of making it difficult to judge corners, so I was always getting the back wheel stuck turning round corners or into lifts etc until I got used to it.

We have the icandy peach and whilst I love it it looks great, to say how much it cost there are a few things I don't like about it and wonder if it really was worth all that money...the hood is very noisy and will wake a sleeping baby, it is quite heavy, you can't get anything in or out of the basket without lifting the carrycot off the frame because the gap is too small the raincover on the carrycot is a poor fit and the frame scratches easily

Thanks for all of your replies. I was hoping to get positives for the Vista because the cost of the iCandy is so restrictive. I guess no pram is perfect and the wider back wheels will be something to get used to.

I will look at the Baby Jogger City Select too and a sling!

Thanks butterfly for the perspective on the iCandy too.

Love my vista. The basket is HUGE. The one downside is that it takes up most of our car boot space. So we now have a baby jogger city mini for travelling round(MUCH easier to fold/unfold and much more compact) but I still consider my UB to be our main pram. I know loads who have one and have also ended up buying a lighter buggy, but I think the same would be the case for the icandy.

CheshireSplat · 19/10/2014 16:44

I love the vista too. I got used to the width quickly but it does fox occasional drivers who tend to crash into people's ankles shop fittings. On the plus side it turns on a ha'penny so the easy steering helps with the width.

I needed to pop the wheels off to get it into the boot but that is the only complaint, in fact it's not even a complaint just an observation. If there is really £350 difference I wouldn't even think about it.

JenSmith1508 · 20/10/2014 09:17

Definitely icandy peach, i've got the peach3 which is quite heavy, but that's because it has to take the weight of 2 children on the same frame so i guess it's better that way as it's safer. The hood is much quieter than on my old peach2 as well.

SingSongSlummy · 20/10/2014 09:21

I used to work with Nursery products. We used to get iCandy returns all the time, but never had a Vista problem! iCandy is ridiculously heavy and impractical. Vista is brilliantly designed and well thought out.

TinyTear · 20/10/2014 09:26

Love my Vista and I am 5'4 too!

the huuuuge basket is so handy for shopping and stuff

NanooCov · 20/10/2014 09:32

The vista, cam 3 and peach were our shortlist too. In the flesh I didn't like the peach and the carrycot seemed minute. I don't really hold to the theory of buying a pram with the intention of needing to convert to a double later - realistically I reckon I'd just sell the single and buy a "proper" double if need be. In the end we went for the cam 3 - OH (who is an engineer) couldn't live with the crap quality of the welds on the vista frame Smile But the one part fold did appeal to me and I did love the little flap thing on the vista hood!
