How robust is the bjcm?

Does anyone have any experience of taking the baby jogger city mini over rough ground- grass/ gravel?

I am looking on e bay and the GT is scarce so the prices bump up, was wondering if I could manage with the non-gt. I won't need it for serious off roading but I'm quite heavy handed and like to be able to bump up curbs etc.

Or- has anyone swapped GT wheels onto the regular chassis? I've read that this is possible?

It would be dangerous to swap the wheels on these pushchair, even if you could. I think you would have a hard time buying a complete set of wheels anyway.
TBH if you really do go across rough ground, then you would be better with the GT. The City Mini 4 otherwise may well be better as it is less 'tippy'.
Have you considered something like a Nipper or an older Baby Jogger Classic?

I haven't heard of these- Are they still about on the second hand market?

We take ours dog walking across fairly rough grass and it's ok, quite hard to push on gravel though.

There is also a make called Out and About which we were shown as an alternative to the bjcm gt.
Saying that, we still preferred the GT and our order is being placed this week.

6 years and counting of regular rough use. It doesnt seem to care and takes stuff in its stride. Gets a hose down if it gets too muddy and dries quick :-)

I have a bjcm and an Out n About Nipper 360.

The BJCM is mostly brilliant, and fine for kerbs, steps etc. It's ok on a bit of grass, well compacted rough tracks, parks, edge of football pitch. For more extensive off roadi g - forests, beach, fields, bridleways - the Nipper is my choice.

If you mean bump up kerbs as in just driving straight at them without tipping the front wheels up then bjcm def won't do that, neither will the gt imo but I didn't actually try it. Other than that they do seem to last pretty much forever with little input.

Thanks for the responses! Found a good deal on the GT new... just to decide now if we can justify the extra expense over second hand. Going to go and test drive again and decide! Seems they last forever so might be worth the investment.
