stroller seat from carry cot

my dd is just over 3 months and has pretty much outgrown her carry cot! (how the hell she would be able to stay in it the 6 months as recommended I don't know ) I don't want to keep putting her in the car seat so was wondering whether it's safe to put her in the stroller seat now? oh we have an icandy and travel system

Stroller seat/car seat pretty much same difference if it's a bucket seat like the Icandy ones.

Unless your dc is unhappy and showing it I would stick with the carrycot for now. That said my perception of outgrown has changed massively from dc1, now I wouldn't bat an eyelid at them touching the sides or ends as long as they were content enough in there.

Another option to try to keep a younger than 6m baby safer in a bucket shaped seat is a wedge, mamas and papas sell one for the sola city, stokke do one for the xplory, silver cross do one for the surf.. I would definitely consider that as it allows them more view but retains the flat area that's important for organ development and breathing/oxygen saturation.

I've been wondering about this too. My ds is 3 months old and only fits in the carrycot of our pram now in the 'frog-legged' position. He can't stretch his legs out straight at all. The seat part fully reclines (I think) on ours though so we're going to try him out in it tonight and see which option looks less uncomfortable...

My dd is 9 months old and was ready to go in a seat just after 6 as she could sit up unaided, which was the advice the sales assistant gave me and also what it said on the icandy website (although she was starting to outgrow the carrycot at 5 months). What car seat do you have?

It's all very well saying "put your baby in the seat and recline it" but when there are so many prams out there these days with fixed 'bucket' shaped seats all that will achieve is tipping the baby back with their legs in the air! If the back of the seat is not hinged, and the seat is a fixed shape, reclining the seat does not allow the baby to lie flat.

If I had a pram like that I would continue to use the carrycot until the baby was about 6 months old.

I had a Mamas and Papas Ultima pram for my babies, the carrycot was very wide and the pram seat had a proper hinged back and did lie totally flat. In fact I mostly kept the carrycot in the house to use for sleeping and used the pram seat from birth when going out. Unfortunately Mamas and Papas don't sell them any more!

my car seat is by BeSafe. The whole sear unit reclines back but the seat isn't flat iyswim. If you google icandy apple 2 pear you'll see

This or similar is what I'm talking about if you really need to move her. Buckets seats aren't suitable until they can sit unaided really, stuff to do with supporting their neck/upper body and keeping the airway open etc.

Bit of a thread hijack but does anyone have a pic of the bj city versa with a wedge in it? Or just from your experience, does baby seem nice and secure or?! We've got the versa plus carrycot but expecting a long baby so worried about the 4th/5th month!

I've used a mamas and papas sola city wedge with my BJ Versa from when DS was 3 months +
The wedge fits really well and DS was very secure and happy in it like that. He much prefered it to the carrycot as he could see out, and didn't spend the whole time trying to do a sit up
