bugaboo bee - seems low when using cocoon?

Clearly the bee is popular, as I can't seem to find a negative word about it!

We are preparing for our pfb, and the bee seems to tick all the boxes of being light, compact and flexible for different ages.

But having pushed it around in mothercare with the cocoon set up, it did seem the baby would be much lower to the ground than other carry cot pushchairs. Is this a problem? How often are you bending over tending to your baby when out and about? If it's all the time, I can see a bad back developing pretty quickly! Is this fair or not, I have no idea?

When it's in upright buggy mode the height doesn't seem to be so much of an issue, so I'm only worrying about those early months when baby is lying flat in the cocoon.

I have never ever had a problem with lower seats, have used lots. I think I possibly haven't needed to do an awful lot by way of tending to them whilst using the pushchair though? As in not a lot of lifting them in and out etc. when at the carrycot stage.

I haven't heard of a bee user saying it's too low, I need to change the pushchair. Many people do mention how low the seat is but generally speaking they are people who aren't actually using one.

I wonder how much lower the base of the seat is compared to the base of the cam carrycot... I very much doubt there's a huge amount in it. Obviously there are higher set carrycots (stokke obviously but the vista and quinny buzz come to mind) but realistically most carrycots aren't that high set.

I found it no problem but then I'm only 5'4" so hardly tall myself.

DD was always happy in it and she is 2.1 now and we still use it as a stroller for her and sometimes flipped back around with the cocoon for 19 week DS. (Though he's in the sling 99% of the time)

Oh, and you've seen the bee3 right? With the carrycot, better chassis etc. I think it's due out September ish.

My DB and SIL decided against it for this reason. I had the 2009 bee, which is pretty similar and it never crossed my mind. I don't thing the seat is any lower than other single part buggies, well I'm compar

It is very low and the baby ends up being the same height as the shopping bags that people are carrying.....

There are a lot of side by side comparisons pictures on best buggy, some here also this one is good as it shows the others with the carrycots on, as far as I can see the bee seat is no lower than the carrycot base. Imo it appears lower because of the lack of sides. Here is it next to a long line of other pushchairs, gives you a chance to see how big the differences in height actually are, how much it might bother you etc.

Thanks for the comments. I think it's something we're just going to have to try again in person.

We were thinking of buying 2nd hand anyway, so if it's really not right we can always sell it on and get something else. Hoping that the release of the bee 3 means the bee 2s will drop in price on eBay!

I find all of the bugaboos very close to the ground, and was out off for this reason.
