A question for eBay users (sellers)

I have noticed that on eBay quite often with larger value items eg pushchairs, a seller will ask for cash on collection, rather than PayPal. Is there a reason for this? Is PayPal not 100% safe?Just wondering. Thanks !

I think the cash on collection is to stop buyers claiming their money back through PayPal saying they didn't get the item or something like that as you obviously don't have proof of postage as they've picked it up.

It's nothing to do with PayPal being insecure.

I think it's because if they pay through PayPal and collect then they can deny ever receiving the item and they might try and claim the money back but if they pay cash on collection then you have the cash there and then and it's harder for them to claim back. I could be totally wrong though. Grin
Also, if they pay with PayPal they could mess you around collection times but their wouldn't be much you could do about it straight away because they've already payed for it.

If you're selling something that's being picked up it makes more sense as a seller to get the cash for it.
That way you don't get charged Paypal fees and buyers can't claim the money back through Paypal

YY to all those above! I always ask for cash on collection.
