Baby jogger city mini or maclaren xt for 17 month old.

I'm looking for a new buggy for my 17mo. Got an oyster gem (hammock seat) at the moment but it is horrible, my dd sits dangling by the crotch strap and it starts to collapse if you have any shopping in it.

I use the buggy at least once a day and space for shopping would be handy.

I am considering the baby jogger city mini or the maclaren xt. I have tried dd in both and as far as I can see from a 10min trial she seems OK in both, possibly more comfy in the bjcm. My reservation about the bjcm is that it seems bulkier and heavier than the maclaren, but my DH says bjcm will be better for DD in winter as it is more enclosed and I can see his point.

Anybody got any views on which would be better?

I had an XT for dd1 and it's a good enough pushchair, you can't really go wrong with it. However, for dd2 I converted to the baby joggers and I would never go back. BJCM is no heavier than the XT in practical terms, has a better fold and a bigger, comfier seat. I wouldn't swap back.

Baby jogger. We've got an mclaren for travelling and they always look so uncomfy when they nap

And you can't push them with one hand

I've had both, and prefer the BJCM for most the of reasons already mentioned above!

Nice big hood, more spacious (although that's not an issue with my 22lb 2 year old!) and lovely to push, especially with one hand.

The BJCM is not especially bulky, and the way it folds 'flat and square' makes it easier to carry when folded than the long, thin Maclaren. You can also get the rear wheels off in seconds, giving more scope for fitting it in different car boots.

I had an XT with my first two DC's and loved it, the BJCM was only just starting to make an impact towards the end of the buggy years with DC2. I used to rave about my Maclaren, and at the time you couldn't have gotten anything better, my DC's were very comfy sleeping in it,even up to almost 3 yo. I'm now expecting DC3 and when the time comes to get buggy, I feel sad to say that i will be going with the BJCM. I really think umbrella fold buggies have had their day and the functionality and ease of use of a BJCM is far superior.

Thanks for all the feedback, looks like bjcm is the winner!
