Phil & Teds Sport: car seat travel system question

Hi all,

A quick question to anyone with a Phil & Teds Sport using a car seat as a travel system...

We're expecting baby no.2, and we have a double P&T and a Cocoon. Son no.1 is 26 months and quite tall, but fits just fine in the double kit when the top seat is in the normal seated position.

Does a car seat (like the Maxi Cosi Pebble) fit comfortably on top for the newborn while the bigger child is sat in the second seat? Or is it a squash and the Cocoon is better?

Unfortunately, our big Mothercare doesn't sell the Travel System 4 adapter kit so we can't try the seat for size with DS1 underneath.

Thanks for any help,
Kez

The cocoon is better for the baby, lie flat being more optimum for newborns and all that. Space wise though, for occasional use of a car seat rather than full time use then a quick google suggests that the car seat on top is identical to the normal seated position if this photo is anything to go by.

Thanks for that. We intend to use the Cocoon initially, but there'll be that tricky couple of months when new bubs is too big for the Cocoon and too tiny for the second seat.

There's always a compromise with pushchairs. We're on a limited budget so very happy I found this decent condition, second hand P&T. But alas, there's always compromises to be made when you're watching the pennies!

I had a tall just 3 yo, newborn and P&T sport, with a cocoon, doubles kit and car seat.
Mostly used cocoon for baby, with 3 yo in main seat.
Then, you're right, there is a bit of a lull when baby is too big for cocoon and too small for main seat. I used car seat for this period, and kept trips short. For longer trips, I used a sling for baby.
Once the baby was about 7 months old, she ent in main seat and 3 yo in doubles seat.

They can go on the cocoon 'shelf' without the cocoon for that awkward in between bit. I used the doubles seat from around 4 months rather than the recommended 6.
