Do not EVER buy a Mothercare Xpedior - nearly killed my 8 week old baby today.

The chasis broke today with my 8 week old baby sat in the car seat on the frame. She dropped to the floor along with the chasis but was luckily unhurt.

I have discovered this has happened to two other people I know. And the sales lady in mothercare said a lot of Xpediors are being returned for different reasons.

So avoid at all costs!

On that note, avoid Mothercare at all costs - they have terrible customer service. At first they wanted me to take a loan Xpedior until they could repair this one. I refused to have another Xpedior, so they offered to exchange the pram up to the value I had spent on the Xpedior (I could pay the difference on a more expensive pram). This took over an hour to sort out.

I chose another pram but have had to take a loan pram until Monday afternoon. This loan pram is disgusting. I refuse to use it so have no pram until Monday.

I just thought I would warn everyone.

I fail to see how it 'nearly' killed your baby?

I'm sorry this happened, you have been given a loan pushchair to use until a new one is available on Monday.

If you feel more should be done for you then I would have thought a letter or email to head office is best. There is only so much the sales assistants are able to do.

You do have a pushchair to use. You're just being a bit of a precious snob.

I used to work for Mothercare a long time ago. They would do anything to avoid giving refunds and yes, the loaner prams were absolutely revolting. I couldn't wait to leave. Would never go near them again.

Report to trading standards

Hmm, we were told to give out loaner prams that were encrusted with old food as well as caked in dirt. I'm afraid I would be too precious to use them.

TheNightIsDark It has white mould growing on it. Funnily enough I am quite precious about my newborn not laying on mouldy fabric and breathing around it.

But why did you even leave the store with a filthy pram? I'm sure if you pointed out how 'filthy' it was then they could have changed it before you left the store.

But you didn't say that in your OP. You made it sound like it wasn't expensive enough to be to your taste.

Had you said- the loan pram is mouldy and I can't put my baby in it then you would obviously not be precious.

She said it was disgusting. That doesn't suggest specifically that it's not to her taste, you've just read it that way. OP I'd be upset too.

It's not precious! We're talking about an 8 week old baby, who fell to the ground when a pram collapsed.
And anyway, everyone is allowed to be a bit precious at only 8 weeks post partum!

Op, hope you get everything sorted out soon, must have been a nasty shock when the pram broke.

You must of had a massive shock, i'm glad baby is fine. Disguisting loaning minging prams out. I wouldn't use it either.

Hope you haven't chosen another mothercare branded pram to replace this one?

That must have been pretty scary OP, glad your baby is okay.

However, I'm not sure about your comments about customer service. They offered you a loan pushchair, and when you turned it down, offered you a full replacement to the same full value of the broken pram. When you ordered that they have given you a different loan pram, albeit in poor condition. Why did you accept it? Take it back and complain that it is unsuitable for use!

I would be furious too OP. Poor you. How frightening to have your pram collapse like that.

There is no way I would have put my newborn in a mouldy pram either. I fail to see how that is evidence of snobbery.

I'd write to their head office as well as trading standards. Have you written on their FB wall and tweeted them? I think I would.

I did say it wasn't snobby when the OP elaborated on disgusting.

As someone else has said, trading standards. And it's not at all precious or snobby to want your baby to be in a clean pram that doesn't collapse.

OP, sounds like a good warning, and that Mothercare deserves the lost business. See if there's a sling library near you to help carry LO in coming days?

I have tweeted and wrote on their FB page.

By time she bought the loan pram out I had been in the shop ages with a newborn and toddler. I just wanted to get out. Since then I have contacted HQ and been back to the shop with the pram - they said their is nothing they can do.

My new pram isn't a mothercare one, I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole now.

Errr I did lay off her. I retracted my comment when the condition was explained. I hadn't expected that any company would loan out a mouldy pram so misunderstood.

TheNightIsDark - I bought a mothercare Xpedior, not a bugaboo - I think its clear expensive prams are not that important to me.

I'd be really upset if this happened to my eight week old baby.

I'm really surprised other posters attacked you earlier - pretty harsh and unnecessary!
