Large pram for tummy sleeper?

Hi All,

DD2 is 16 months old and unfortunately won't sleep unless she's on her front. This makes going out with DD1 very difficult. Most of the time we stay at home for sleeps but just occasionally I would like to go out for the day.

She doesn't sleep in the car or a pushchair which just ends up ruining our days out.

Does anyone have a pushchair with a long carrycot? She's about 78 cm at the moment. I'm thinking if I could lie her on her front for a short time she might have a sleep while we're out and about....

I was looking at getting something that had the carrycot that converts into a pushchair but a separate would also be fine.

I've tried to look at the technical specifications online but I'm not seeing any - can anyone help?

The Maclaren XLR is a lie flat stroller which has a high backed seat and the bit at the bottom pulls out more of a footrest - not sure if itd be bug enough for a 16mo but nught be worth a look.

The convertible seat/carrycot things do tend to be bigger.. I don't know by how much. Probably up to something like 80cm? Often they say suitable to 9kg too.. Possibly because when the seat is used there is webbing and clips supporting weight where when it is dropped down it in carrycot mode there is only fabric. I'm speculating.. It may or may not be a problem.

Otherwise I would look for something with a really flat recline, add a padded cotton liner and see if that would be a possibility? None of mine have been pushchair sleepers past 9m to a year. It's annoying and kinda restrictive. Over time we have just ended up having to do stuff anyway with a grumpy tired baby in tow.

Something with a really big seat and newborn suitable recline? I'm thinking of bjcm or out n about nipper- we have the latter and when dd naps in it it really looks and feels like she is in a little bed. She can easily curl up on her side for instance. Then use a folded blanket under a big liner/cosy toes to make it even flatter, would she go for that? We often don't strap dd in for her naps as she is able to climb out safely and I like her to be able to move around if she wants.

Ditto the armadillo. The seat really is massive, my 18mo is tall for her age yet her feet are not near the end of the seat itself nevermind the plastic footrest. Its 92cm when laid flat and footrest up and very very roomy.

I just measured my red kite zumi, that's also 92cm laid flat with the footrest up. It's also 3cm narrower than the armadillo with bigger wheels. Half the price but I imagine there is a quality difference for that though. Plus as a 3 wheeler it's tippier than a 4. I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't other pushchairs with seats as big if you went out with a tape measure and had a look.

if we took dd1 out with us (for supper in the evenings on holdiay for example) we just didnt strap her in and she would often turn over.

standard buggy - obaby atlas. you could always put something comfy for her to lie on in there.
