Pushchair for a small Mum and baby

I bought an icandy apple when I was pregnant but now at 6 months my baby is a tiny 13lb and now she can sit up I can't use the carrycot but the pushchair straps don't adjust small enough to hold her so I need something new!

I live somewhere where there's hardly any shops to go and look at pushchairs so I'm looking for some recommendations. I want:

Low or adjustable handles as I'm only 5ft

Preferably something that does both parent and outward facing

Lighter and easier to fold than the hulking stupid icandy

Something that advertises itself as 'from birth' so I know the straps will go small enough

Don't need a 'travel system' just a pushchair really and a budget of max £250 any ideas?

Id say a Bugaboo Bee, but at that budget you may need to go second hand.

You could look at sellibg the icandy and adding what you make to the budget.

I love my Mamas and Papas Sola. I'm only 5ft and the handle height is perfect. Obviously you don't need to buy the travel system can just buy the pushchair bit. The straps adjust really small and it's not too heavy for me so should be ok for you I suppose if we're the same height?

It also does parent and front facing. I have a stroller which I use on holiday but it feels like a basket on wheels compared to my Sola, which is nice and sturdy. I think they are £199 for the pushchair alone. Hope this helps you decide!

Another vote for the Sola. Both me at 5ft3 and dh at 6ft can push comfortably.

Was just looking at the sola and I really like it, unfortunately the nearest store is a few hours away but one of my friends has one so I'm going to test drive hers. There's a purple one on sale for £199 which is a bit more my budget than the bugaboo.

It's really great, I will use it as long as he fits in it! We do a lot of long walks with it, the only thing I don't do is take it on the bus (but that's because I live on quite a busy bus route) but never have any problems on the metro, however if you live somewhere quite rural I doubt that's an issue for you!

I have had a m&p glide, which is a sola in different colours and liked it, also had a joie chrome and liked it more... Possibly because it folds with the seat on in either direction, which is really useful. Also the basket is massive, the sola one is okay but a weird shape and a bit shallow. At this sort of budget level I'd get a chrome or a graco evo... Something like that. The second hand bee is also always a really solid option.

Oh I looked at the joie chrome but couldn't find many reviews on it and the lady in babies r us said that they are crap, not that they sell it. It's all so confusing!

I suspect you would find any possible issues on the internet though, people are more likely write reviews about problems than simple everyday use. I haven't looked into it but a quick Google may reveal something? Mine wasn't crap anyway, it was great for 200 quid, it came with the carrycot and carseat.

Well I have to say I did quite like it for the price (on offer for £180 at the moment) just wasn't sure of the brand/quality. The sola is lighter and I know they last as my friend has had hers nearly 3 years but they are more expensive especially once you buy a footmuff whereas the chrome includes the footmuff. I can't decide!

My friend has my glide, it's now a year old and heavier to push with a 8m old in that the chrome as with a 1yo in. Both have annoying harnesses. Have you looked at the graco evo? I prefer the recline style on that, much more enclosed when laid back. I suppose that's less of an issue for a 6mo but it's still a consideration maybe? Also huge basket. I would have said I don't care about baskets, then read my comments back quite clearly I do!

One should never undervalue the importance if a big basket, especially when you've got a suitcase of a handbag to lug around all those spare clothes, nappies, snacks and the kitchen sink

Not sure which Graco it was I looked at but the handles were too high, I'll have a quick google of the one you've said though.

Yes but it's really light so I might have to go and test drive one to see how high it is, good suggestion though thanks, I hadn't seen those.

I have a mamas and papas urbo. Seat suitable from birth without carrycot so good for small baby. Handle goes down really low so should be ideal for petite people. I got mine second hand for £80 on eBay.

Ooh I think the evo might have won it, took it for a spin around Mothercare and even though the handle is a little high I really like it. Well done ihateparties! I hadn't even looked at it before you suggested it.
