Bugaboo Donkey lie-flat recline problem (and more)

Until I transferred my 6 month old to the seat, I loved my Donkey. Too narrow but otherwise wonderful.
Now I regret my purchase... And would love any feedback from others:

  • the main problem is that in the lie-flat position (most reclined), the baby's head is lower than his legs/feed. I can't believe this is healthy. I've read of a couple others having this issue and people replied to say this is a problem recognised by bugaboo. One of those originals posters replied that she had had many seat and chassis replacements but no improvement. And the other donkey I looked at in store today looks just the same. The little red dot which shows when over reclined is just beginning to appear when my 10kg son is in the lie-flat position. I have contacted bugaboo and they told me to contact my retailer, which it have done but I'm not hopeful for a positive outcome
  • the rain cover hardly fits over the foot muff
  • the straps are already almost too short to fit my 6 month old
  • the seat is always bent / at an angle
Any thoughts appreciated :)

Sorry no advice but interested in others reps onset to your prob op as I am currently looking at bug buffalo for dc3 nearly due! My friend has a cam and I have noticed the seat thing, hers is well used (two kids) and looks great for age but I def noticed the seats seems to tip back sometimes, also the bucket seat thing worries me abit but you see hundreds of these prams so must be ok? Just looks odd to me to see little ones reclined but with little feet sticking straight up in the air?

Really? We have the cameleon. Have used for x2 children and still fine. Youngest is 3 at Easter and uses fine still and straps fit. Eldest 4 used when ill and still fits, straps still work and his head def higher than feet on recline

I love my donkey (now for dd2 and 3) it is starting to look a bit tired, but that is because it has had some serious hammer. Nothing is ever perfect though. The rain covers are a bugger to put on, but so cozy when they are. The seats re the feet thing are a bit weird, but I rarely fully recline it, and no body seems to worry about it when they're in car seats for hours and hours. That said, i did prefer the seating position in my rubbish pushchair I had for dd1 which did recline flat and the foot rest could be up when the back wasn't. She used to look like the queen on a float sitting bolt upright gripping the bar. As for straps, yes they are too short, but I rarely do them up for the 2 year old and often just round the waist. With the bumper bar thing on she's quite happy.

I am surprised at the straps as my nearly 4 year old fitted fine. Are you sure that you have them properly fitted and adjusted?
The recline tilt is a known issue and contacting your retailer is the correct answer. If you aren't happy, tell them :) Your contract of sale is with them.
Warm your raincover up with a hair drier and they should stretch a little - but yes they are hard! I swapped to Joolz raincovers.
