double pushchair vw polo?

Is this a possibility? DH has a larger car than me but i like my car better. Have a single which i can combine with buggy board or sling for short trips but DS will be only just two and will need double for longer walking journeys and days out when both children will want a nap. Is there any sort of double that would get into such a small boot?

If you're willing to remove wheels etc then lots of things will fit imo. I had a baby jogger city mini double and yaris a couple of years ago and that fit in really easily with the parcel shelf out. Do you want side by side or a tandem?

If i take out the shelf how do i make sure the buggy could not fall through into the car in case of accident? Do i use some sort of straps? Hadn't thought about taking out the shelf. Ideally i prefer side by side but did not think it would be possible.

I don't know how big/deep the particular boot is. For smaller items I agree with you but I think the pushchair was to big to move over the top of the seats. Well, it was in my car anyway, it wouldn't have fitted through the gap above the seats. You could strap it down though, no reason why not. An umbrella fold side by side may fit with the parcel shelf in place.

I have found with umbrella singles that they are too long when collapsed which is annoying. So with a side by side would i put it in standing up as lying flat it would be too wide? If i can do that safely it will make my search much easier!

Right, the bjcm had to stand up in the yaris boot. Because part of the parcel shelf was fabric I invested less faith that it would keep anything out of the cabin than I do in a full size solid parcel shelf.
If you're worried I would get some bungee cords and run with the idea of strapping something down. Do you know how deep the boot is? The yaris was 50cm deep at the maximum and 50cm tall so pretty much nothing fitted with the parcelshelf in place, single or double.

I can fit a mamas and papas urbo in the boot but with no depth to spare. I think its about 55cms. I don't mind removing wheels if needs be.

I've got a vw polo and an icandy peach blossom 2.

Remove wheels
Put base in with wheels to the side; back wheels rest on top of front wheels.
Bumper bar off main seat
Place lower seat inside main seat
Place in boot with head end to side of car
This works with both footmuffs on and rain covers can fit on top too

I was amazed as I couldn't fit a single maclaren techno (umbrella fold) in without massive struggle as it was too long. You can keep the parcel shelf in too.

I've got a bjcm single which fits but doubt the double would fit because of the way it folds (have just re-read your thread)

We have an Ibiza now, a polo in a different dress, and the boot is bigger than the yaris was. Thus I reckon it will fit. You can try it out anyway, plenty of places stock them and will let you try it in your boot.
