Ball park age that dc stop needing buggy?

dc1 is 9& can't remember! I know it'll vary & some need them until older if you walk a lot/ for napping etc but just looking for a rough idea? Trying to work out if it's worth getting tandem for dc 2&3 or trying to manage other options (sling/ buggy board). Thanks.

DD could manage to walk the 10 mins to preschool at 2.9. We got a buggy board when DS arrived as I couldn't control her and push the buggy. It does make the buggy v heavy and a bit of a pain to push but she's a bolter so needed something. She still fits in our Zapp at nearly 4 now, useful for shopping if I need to restrain her when by myself, but tbh that's rare. Not sure if that helps, depends how often you will have both DC with you, how far you walk, etc. A buggy that can be converted between 1 and 2 seats might be a good option if you can afford?

That's fab snowflake. I'll be doing loads of walking with all 3 dc so I think I'll defo need a double & agree one that converts is way to go, looking at baby jogger on eBay as an option. Currently using pushchair from dc1 for dc2 but as it's 9 years it's on last legs now&don't think it could handle buggy board etc as already very stiff& random screws keep popping off etc. Thanks for the advice.

If you do loads of walking, I'd def get some sort of double. I got a double for mine and ebayed it when done with it.

With both my older kids we were down to occasional use (mainly shopping trips and days out) by 2. Ds hasn't sat in a pushchair since he was 2.5, dd1 still very much needed a pushchair last year in holiday aged 6. She does have dodgy knees though and tires very easily. In fairness, she still needs one now aged 7 for days out.

My two are very close in age so had a double pushchair until older one was about 3 and then a single with buggy board until youngest was 3.5..... After that they walked.....with occasional whinging! Smile

What's your age gap between dc2 and 3 OP?

I ask as I have a tiny gap between my youngest two and ended up using a buggy longer as a safety measure rather than anything else, until dc3 was nearly 4 (he was a bolter and I couldn't leave the other two to chase him!)

We walk loads and dc1 was pretty much walking everywhere at 3. I have friends who used buggy + buggy board when their biggest was 2.5.

22 months between mine, by 2.4 ds was walking most of the time but I don't drive so for long walks its handy to have. (Ds now 2.8) especially in bad weather as hes quite slow. I have P&T explorer, so can also use as a single or with buggy board if needed

MoominsYonisAreScary · 21/11/2013 22:34

I bought mine second hand off gumtree

MummyPig24 · 22/11/2013 15:57

Both of mine around 3.5 when the buggy reliably wasn't needed.
