Travel system?!
10

Milliemoo66 · 02/11/2013 21:43

Hello all, I'm a newbie to all of this!

My husband and I are trying for a baby and due to my obsessive organisational needs I am researching travel systems, and what a minefield it is!

My sister recommended I join here to get some advice so here I am, I will be a first time mum and have no clue where to start really and am getting stressed with all of the choices!

So what I'm looking for.....I'm after comfort for both me and the baby, and and want something cool stylish, which will fold nicely into a hatchback car and SIMPLE to use! I
Ike the idea of having the option to have baby facing me or away.

I've been looking at the bugaboo chameleon, the orbit baby travel system, the icandy and the Quincy buzz but I'm open to any recommendations

It might be worth mentioning that my husband and I are hopefully planning to have 2 children in the next 5 years, so something I could utilise a newborn and a toddle would be handy.

I'm not too concerned about the cost, as I'd prefer to invest on something which will suit my needs and will last!

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!

Any advice would be greatly recommended!

That's true and very good advice! I just want to make sure I have everything I need so I can enjoy the pregnancy and not worry too much about the items I need to get! X

why not make a list of the things you;ll potentially need, but not specifics?
that way you;ll know what you need, but can choose the exact ones later on?

it's kind of exciting once you are pregnant to go out buggy shopping and choosing things.

My advise, avoid a quinny like its a plauge of locusts on fire trying to eat you. It will suck out your soul and make you wish for death.

Other than that, an icandy peach is a good single to double system and is relatively simple.

Bugaboo Bufallo is supposed to be excellent and does everything you want it to including single/double use :)

To be honest "travel systems" are a bit of a con as you're not supposed to use the car seat for more than 2 hours at a time because of the position they are held in and you don't want to choose a pram based on which car seat will fit in your car.

That said most prams are suitable with Maxi Cosi car seats so you should have plenty of scope but like others said wait and see as baby shopping whilst pregnant is part of the excitement :)

If you want to do something p practical make a list if general things you would like/need and then you cab research further when the time comes, I'd also like to say that you really don't need very much at all so PLEASE don't go partying with cash based on what the "shop suggestion lists" (i.e mothercare'

We got given a bugaboo chameleon for free and it is an ok pushchair but I would have been kicking myself if I had paid anything for it! Plus I am pregnant again and there is no way of converting it to a double.

If you get an Icandy peach then you can convert it into a double, plus they are lovely!

I never thought about pushchairs before I was pregnant, oh no siree

Oh yes, definitely avoid the mothercare 'what you need' list!

I really think that looking at push chairs and things when you aren't pregnant yet is a bad idea. god forbid you have any problems when you've forked out £600 + on a travel system, it woold be awful having baby stuff around the house. i wish you all the luck in the world and hope you get pregnant first try but shopping for things when you're pregnant is so enjoyable and those days when you're exhausted and sick feel so worth it when you're planning your nurse and buying gorgeous clothes. hope we're seeing your bfp thread soon x
