So what's out there that I can fit a 7yo in?

Not wanting to buy a major buggy. Dd is 7, and hyper mobile. She's fine for the most part but days out she's increasingly complaining of joint pain and actually asked not to go to the zoo last weekend because she knew she would have a full day walking. I generally dose her up with nurofen and calpol but she's still complaining her legs hurt. I know how she feels, I was the same as a child and hated days out because of it. So what small, light easy to push buggy will fit an average size skinny 7yo in? I know I'm going to be over the weight but I'm really not fussed as its only for occasional use

I would look at a Baby Jogger Elite, Summit or even a City Mini GT. I know of 6 year olds who fit in these (and older children). Look also at the Kiddy City 'n Move which has a big seat. The new Casual Play Livi may not be too bad either. The Easywalker Sky or Qtro; Easylife Pedigree; Mountain Buggy SN may all be options although none are particularly light. The Bugaboo Bee Plus has a pretty big seat too.

Cheers tiggy, I knew I could rely on you :0) she does fit in the bee plus but her weight means that if it hits rough ground its not rigid enough to go over it, I tried her in that first as I had one for current baby. I'd chuck her in the buffalo but daren't in case I break it!

I have had a large 6y.o in a Maclaren volo (in fact she had my skinny 6yo on her lap too!).

I know my DD would still fit in it and it's lovely and light. You could even carry it over your shoulder when she didn't need it. I doubt you would need the hood but it's actually quite high.

I had Maclaren (techno? turbo? was grey and like a sturdier umbrella buggy)

We used it on days out for my dd but it was mostly actually for my friend's dd who had health issues, and she would need a ride on occasions. her dd was 9 I think, but small and skinny. It was plenty big enough, and she sometimes had my dd on her lap.

I don't think nurofen and calpol are going to help with 'joint pain'. Nor will a buggy. Have you seen a doctor about this?

Have a look at special tomato jogger, it is special needs but looks and is just a bigger three wheeler. Would easily fit 7 year old in it.

if you have a baby in a buggy already, could you maybe get a buggy board seat thing? or would she be better with a scooter that would save her walking so much?

Annie - yes we have seen the gp who has confirmed that she has hyper mobility like me, its an incurable condition, basically the ligaments around her joints are weak and too stretchy so her muscles have to work doubly hard to support her joints and maintain her balance, she therefore gets tired easily and once tired her muscles no longer support her joints 100% and they overextend slightly with each step which causes pain. The calpol & nurofen do actually help with the pain and inflammation, however the best solution to her leg pain is to rest them, hence the need for a buggy. Its either that or not go on days out meaning she would miss out and so would the family.
I don't think a buggy board or scooter would work, basically she needs to rest the knee and ankle joints completely (these are the ones she gets most pain in) and the buggy is the simplest solution.

We have a Mountain Buggy ?Swift for DD2, but when DD1 (then a pretty sturdy 5 yo) burnt her leg on hot steam long story she fit in it perfectly. And it's ok for up to 35kg! It's not that light, but it is really easy to push even with a big weight in it.

Like someone else said.... The baby jogger GT has a much bigger/longer seat and the larger forever air tyres allow for a heavier weight

Yes my nearly 6 year old cadges a lift in my GT and has plenty of room.

What do you ladies think of the buffalo? I wasn't initially that taken with it but am now attracted by the high weight limit and large seat (not sure if its quite large enough but I can always try one)

Not fussed about cost so much, as it would be a double purpose off road buggy for baby and back up buggy for days out for dd

I was thinking more of something like the Litaf pick up than a normal buggy board or a mini micro with seat, is it the 3 in 1 or something?

OOhh yes, a B.O.B.!

I have a Buffalo for my 3 year old. I have had my 5 year old in it though. My 5 year old will be heavier than your DD. The Donkey seat has a longer leg length though.

I was going to say BOB, they are fantastic, fold like a dream and can be steered one handed.

Easylife sport is another good one too.

I've been in a bob.. quite comfy Grin pretty sure a 7yo would fit fine.

I have a 5 year old with CP and I am sorry but she wouldn't fit in most of the ones listed over. Her legs are too long to be comfy, if you need her legs to be supported I would look at something like a special tomato EIO, Avero Ito or covaid cruiser. I hope that helps
