Out n About Double V3 Carrycot substitute??

Looks like the carrycot is not coming out till end of the year, but will need something for my newborn. Has anyone tried using a Phil & Teds Cocoon? Or something similar?

I'm currently using two Phil & Teds cocoons with a double out 'n' about for my three month old twins and think it works really well. The cocoons fit well in the seats and you can lift the babies out still in their cocoons if they are asleep without waking them up. I've been using them with the head end nearer the footplate so the babies are rear facing so you can see them. The only slight hitch with this is if it's very sunny the hood doesn't always keep the sun off but this can be solved with some muslins and strategically placed clothes pegs... (But it's not a problem with the current weather!).

I have seen a pic with hauck cocoons in a double nipper too, they looked an excellent fit.

Thats exactly what I wanted to know, do you think it makes a difference which cocoon I use? May I ask which ones you have?

We bought a v3 double for toddler & nb. We already have a v2 single & bought the v2 carrycot initially when we thought we'd get away with no double (that lasted a week!)

Decided to try v2 carrycot on the v3 frame - if you are willing to accept you're not covered by warranty etc it fits! You can only use one of the adaptors (left if its on the lhs/right for rhs) to anchor it into the bumper bar fitting. We then have a firm rectangular cushion on the seat below (fully reclined) to ensure carrycot is level/fully supported. It is a very snug fit against the central seat divider & has virtually no room for manoeuvre so we've always been happy with our arrangement. I wouldn't be doing major off road walks like this but then you're not recommended to do that with a newborn in the pram anyway. It feels stable enough to us/both DH & I tried to tip it before we started using it.

The only thing that really doesnt work is when it rains!!! The raincover does go over the carrycot/most of the toddler loosely but it's def not a good fit although bit better if you put carrycot hood down slightly! (as it's positioned parent facing) I have thought about trying a second hand rain cover from one of the older/wider models but haven't got round to it yet! The extra 4cm would probably resolve the makeshift nature of our set up!

We've been using our pram happily (alternating the sides for the carrycot) for 4 months now. Got the carrycot brand new for £80. Have seen quite a few now on Gumtree etc much cheaper secondhand.

We love our pram! Will be interested in what the manufacturers do to make the v3 carrycot compatible esp with the raincover!! What I'd really like them to do is make an adaptation you could buy to sit on the 'roofbars' of the single. My toddler perches on here if she's tired & I've got the single out with me. If it was a proper clip on seat unit that'd be fab (although then we wouldn't have gone for the double do they've probably thought of that!)
