How long did you use carrycot? (Micralite)

Hi, we have a Maclaren XT for our 3yo but am just trying to decide whether to get micralite with carrycot for baby arriving in November. Can anyone tell me how long they used one for?

The Maclaren doesn't seem cosy enough for a newborn in winter and I don't want to have to use the sling all the time.

Does your XT lie flat? I have the maclaren XLR lie flat with carrycot and it was perfect for dd for the first 5/6 m.

In fact, come to think of it,.a friend had the XR and she bought a second hand maclaren carrycot and velcroed it.onto the seat perfect!
