Im looking for a new double for my 7 month old and 2.5 year old who is big (3 stone) there are a few explorers and sport v2 around in my price range. Does anyone know which would be best? And what sort of price i shoukd be paying second hand?

The toddler walks alot but gets tired and its quite hilly around here

Isnt there a problem with some bar with the recline on the sport as well? Something about it not allowing much head space

Depends which of the kids you want in the back seat really. Quite honestly, at 3 stone, I don't think your older child will fit in the back very well and it does create some tipping issues anyway.

With that in mind I would think about the sport. The little recline in the back seat is enough to give an under 1 year old a better seating position and their head should still fit under the bar. It's easy enough to make them really cosy down there with a nice footmuff or sheepskin.

Of course if your oldest hops out to walk, you might have to swap them around.

out of those 2 i would go with the sport. it's lighter than the explorer, has a bigger main seat and the second seat reclines.

personally speaking i don't love them myself tho. I have one which I use as a single for ds3 and use the doubles seat when I'm looking after my friends little girl and I don't find it particularly practical to use and I wouldn't want my baby in the bottom seat all the time.
p&t tell you never to have a child of any weight in the back seat if there is not a child in the main seat as it may tip up... so if your older child wants to hop in and out then that may be an issue too?

Have you considered alternatives to getting a double buggy? There is a 2 year age gap between my two, I have used a single buggy for the toddler and a decent carrier for the baby (now 1). If I were to have my time again I might have bought a buggy board for the toddler so the baby could go in the pushchair, but I've never regretted not getting a double buggy. (I also have a big heavy toddler - and baby - FWIW).
