Baby too big for icandy...help

I have an icandy peach as dd is 2yrs and Ds is coming up for ten weeks and seems to be filling the carrycot...as in fully stretched out he almost touches at each end....what should I do? Should I transfer him to the seat unit laid flat or keep him in the carrycot?!? He is quite a solid chunky boy!

My baby didn't get much use out of the peach carrycot either, but was desperate to be sitting up to see what was going on so was very happy to go into the seat unit!

Unless he's majorly unhappy he's better laid genuinely flat imho. Reclined in the seat his body won't be flat. I used a stokke newborn wedge in the lower seat of my peach 1, which worked really well for my then hmm 16-18wk old. Incidentally I would have got a carrycot but there were major supply issues last year and they were in demand second hand. There are various wedges available if your ds becomes unhappy in the cot. Personally I have no concerns about them touching the sides, top or bottom as long as they seem generally content but I do know that some feel once they are even approaching any edges it is outgrown.

What are you worried about if he does touch the ends? If it's like the carrycot on my vista it's quite soft so unlikely to cause any issues with bumped heads or anything. Does he mostly sleep with his legs bent meaning he's not too cramped?

My DD squeezed into the vista legs bent until 6 months. It's a huge carrycot but she's 98th centile for length so it's lucky we got a big one. But she was happy in it.

If your DS seems happy I wouldn't worry about how snug he looks Smile

Was worried he might be cramped in it as he is 98th centile and wasn't sure if it was okay to keep him in it if he can't stretch out fully when he wants too! He doesn't sleep curled up and usually is fully stretched out in it...he seems happy for the moment and I guess like you've said it won't matter if he's touching the sides if he is happy...Smile

this is why we got a chameleon - 2 x >99th centile babies happy in there until they could sit unaided

glorious · 10/08/2013 22:53

I reckon he'll tell you if/when he's not comfy then Smile

Isn't the chameleon a single pushchair? I will be keeping the little big fella in the carrycot for as long as he's happy..I wasn't sure if it was frowned upon as I wouldn't keep him in clothes that are too small!! Grin

I posted about a similar thing a while back and I think ihateparties recommended a smart muff. Only just had my baby but he's tall, as predicted, so I will be squeezing him in the carrycot and then trying out the wedged insert when the carrycot becomes untenable.

I kept dd in her carrycot until her feet were out over the top! still thought it was better than putting her in the chair too early.
