Bugaboo

I'm currently 5 months pregnant and looking at buying the bugaboo chameleon 3 for my first baby. Is this a good choice?

I love mine. It's light to carry/pick up for bus and boot. It's nimble. I wanted maxi cosi car seat and worked marvellous with that. The bits all fix together well. It's practical and well thought out to use. I can get loads in the bottom and its not too bad to lift off if baby is in top as well.

For a system pram it's flipping excellent. I would however suggest if you are planning two quickly that you might want to consider the donkey as I've hated moving to another pram system since.

The only other one I found as good were mclarens. But they are straight on pushchairs. Both brands seem to be 'ronseal' and do what they say on the tin!

Thanks, do you recommend a shop to get it from as I've been looking online but only seems to be in the U.S.

The three might be out later this year. My chameleon is older model. I just love it and three isn't much different.

The cam 3 has been in mothercare and loads of other shops for a good few months now.

I would go to a independent shop with a good range of stock to see it alongside other pushchairs and maybe get a more solid idea of what you need in a pushchair. What suits you best is really very dependent on your lifestyle and individual preferences.

Whilst bugaboos are certainly a very reliable option it's still a good idea to see them in context.

I've had my eye on a bugaboo from the day I found out I was pregnant, so finding it hard to look at anything else. I need a good practical pushchair that will take lots of use as neither me or my partner drive at the moment.

I adored my Cameleon, they're built like tanks and there's nowhere they won't go.

I bought mine second hand though. They're built to last, ours was 4 years old when I bought it and lasted me for two kids. Now it's gone to a newborn and it's still in perfect shape - there's not a scratch on the chassis and the fabrics survive machine washing brilliantly. The ?500 I saved bought a hell of a lot of nappies Grin

And what's the age the bugaboo can accommodate the child up until?

I adore ours. Buying cheaper in the first place was a false economy for us. We'd have saved loads if we just went for a cam in the first place. Goes almost anywhere, except v rough terrain, lovely suspension, lots of room in the basket, DS sleeps like ...err... a baby in it... Can't fault it.

Got a cam 1 for DC2 and absolutely love it, also managed to pick one up on ebay, in immaculate condition for £145!

It is a joy to use, only downside for me is the raincover, it's a bit of a faff, wouldn't hurt for it to be slightly bigger.

We bought the cam1 off a friend yesterday for £200, all in perfect condition! I hadn't looked at them in the shops as I knew I'd never be able to afford one! Just need to buy a maxi cosi car seat and the adapters and we're set!! Woke up this morning so happy!! And the frame folds up small enough to fit in the boot of my mini yay!!!!

I hated mine, although it was the current one-cam2 I think rather than the new cam3. I found it flimsy and I hated how the frame jiggled. it was also a faff to put up. I loved the uppababy vista so much more. Similar in lots of ways but far better IMO.The basket in the vista is about 4x the size of the useless bugaboo basket and it stands up on its own and is easy to put up. Also great off road. The cam is bloody useless in the woods as those silly front wheels do nothing but get stuck and yes I know you can turn it round but that's fine if you just want to go in a straight line.
We bought the limited edition one and it turned out to be the biggest waste of money. I sold it 3mths in for £200!

Love mine!! Just purchased the donkey for upcoming delivery of next baby and currently using in mono mode and I love it, find it even nicer to handle than the cam!! My cam is all cleaned up and about to go on ebay tonight, I will be sad to see it go which makes me sound quite sad too lol

I bought the cameleon 1 second hand for DD2. It's the 2007 model but in perfect condition and it's amazing to push. The cam 3 is a bit lighter i think but apart from that there's not much difference.

If you have a car, get the maxi cosi car seat and adaptors it will save you taking the carry cot and the frame. I've got a volkswagen golf and i just get the frame and cot in and not much else. I haven't got the car seat yet but will get it soon hopefully

It's a brilliant buggy
