icandy pear - carrycot to seat

Can anyone give me any advice about moving a 4 month old from the i candy pear carrycot to a seat. My son has outgrown the carrycot but when we've converted it to a seat, he doesn't look secure in it at all. The straps don't seem to be tight enough, they're falling off his shoulders and his head doesn't look steady.

I'm not sure if we're missing something with the straps and there's another way to tighten them up more as he is nearly 17lbs so not a particularly small baby! Has anyone else had this problem?

Is this a second hand Pear? My Pear which is a couple of years old, had enormous straps - far too big for my liking and I added on an additional harness. I thought that on the newer models this had been resolved. If this is a new Pear, I think I would go back to your retailer and ask for some smaller straps - even if they are from say a Peach (I have no idea how this would work though - but they would be able to advise.

Plus bear in mind that your son is also really too young to be in the seat unit, so wedging the seat out and keeping it laid flat may well help. I appreciate the Pear carrycots are small though.

Thanks for the reply - yes it is a second hand pear so an older model. I know he shouldn't really be in the seats till 6 months but I can't cram him in the carrycot anymore!

Should the seat lie completely flat because it isn't at the moment. Am I doing something wrong?? Would a Maxi Cosi car seat work better in the interim? I don't mind buying one if so, just not sure if that'll be any better.

The seat frame should be horizontal, the actual seat won't be, which is the exact problem for younger babies. Hence wedging it to make the inner part more horizontal, there is a footmuff with integral wedge called a smartmuff or you could use a silver cross surf nest maybe or some britax car seat inserts have a shallow wedge, I used a stokke newborn wedge in my peach blossom, icandy do NOT recommend it at all but realistically the carrycots are just small.

I would invest in a wedge as ihateparties says, and also add on an additional harness or try to get the straps changed.

Just a standard highchair / walking reins harness. It will just clip on. I would use the other harness as well to get the crotch strap.
