Weight limit on pushchairs

I have realised today that my Britax pushchair has a 15kg weight limit. DS is just over 14kg so is approaching this limit.

I can't seem to find pushchairs that take over 15kg. Can anyone recommend any please? It must be able to recline.

I think they all have that limit but thats because thats all they've been tested to. I'd just keep using the one you have if he seems comfy in it/still fits in it ok

15kg is the testing standard, it is costly to test at a higher weight apparently. If you have a britax that is also sold in the US you may be able to find information on the weight limit there as they can be different.The testing standards will also be different though I think. Mountain buggies and phil and teds are tested to higher weights, some others too but the vast majority are a blanket 15kg.

So it should be safe? I imagine I will be using it for a couple of years yet. What point would you stop using it? Just when he doesn't fit? Does the same apply to highchairs as thats 15kg aswell?

my 2 were out of highchairs by 18 months and sat in a booster seat up at the table instead

He's fairly reliable at sitting now but I wouldn't yet trust him in a booster unless it had sides as he has the odd wobble! :o

It doesn't seem lile the B-Smart is sold in the US. :(

I don't know about safe, technically speaking I suppose you should stop using it at 15kg, irl.. I don't know what to think.

Patently people do use pushchairs beyond this weight that are not tested for it. The weight limits given in the US for things like baby joggers and also some britax models like the b agile certainly suggest that they are capable of safely carrying a heavier weight.

I have less than no idea on highchairs, it should say on them or at least in the instructions if they have a weight limit. Different set of standards and tests I would imagine.

I started looking into this exact same thing as I was watching lots of pushchair reviews on You Tube by Baby Gizmo & the American weight limits they were quoting were quite a bit higher than the UK ones & I found out the same thing as Ihateparties said above.

My toddler will be 2.5 yrs old & 18kg soon & we're having another baby so I wanted a pushchair that would suit either of them. We've got the added complication that she's very tall so even if the weight limit is high sometimes the seat is still too short & her head won't fit under the hood!

I also started going on the American pushchair websites & checking the online instruction manuals as they usually include the weight limits.

The pushchairs I found that take a higher weight outside the UK are: Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle 35kg (!), Phil & Teds Navigator 20kg on main seat, various Baby Jogger models, Out n About Nipper 22kg, Uppababy Vista 22kg, Mutsy 4Rider, TFK Joggster Twist, Bumbleride Indie.

I always ignore them tbh, my silvercross halo said 15kg but I've caught my teenagers pissing around and pushing each other home in it (whilst toddler ds walks!) plus it's been used as a deckchair by dad on the beach!!
