I have bored my dh to death about buggies, finally paid £75 for a phil and ted sport and it's awful on first go!!!! Will it get better as I get used to it/ swap seats? It's top heavy with ds on, a bitch to control on even slightly sloped pavements as the front wheel follows the slope and I feel like it'll topple on every high curb/ getting on the bus. Only plus is newborn cocoon

London buses are ok with a double I find, a side by side can get down the aisle and still share with a single. In fact my side by side fits in the same space as a wheelchair (I know her, I would get off it was an issue!)

Every fecking pavement is slopey here it seems, the only way of avoiding a 45min walk of slopey pavements is the bus.

THink it may be a case of selling it, I have a cheapo mothercare xoob double and I was upgrading but I can't knock my slim umbrella fold!

How big is your ds OP? I don't remember having this problem tbh - I found the P&T a joy to steer. I'd be tempted to see if you get used to it I think. You could try locking the front wheel and see if you prefer it that way?

I actually laughed mioaw, sadly for me the slopey crap pavements are the bloody high street, so pretty hard to avoid! My Hauck duett copes a dream, but I'm fed of pushing a tank around.

He's 2.5 and very long (that's another issue, can't close hood) but quite light for his age. I'm tall and feel a little stooped with it too. I'll give a trial with the locked wheel, then sell it if I still hate

I have a Britax B-Dual and have found zero problems with it. With DD1 (20months) and DD2 (4months), all the different seat combos, I have had no issues. It steers beautifully and width is no problem. It IS a bit longer than other ones but not that it causes any concerns. I live in Newcastle and use the bus and metro on nearly a daily basis.

I'm thinking a buggy board is the way forward tbh, though that's a whole other issue....

2.5 yr old can walk a fair way, but not my marathon 2 hour jobbies.

Didn't have your problem with top-heaviness in P&T though - still using mine with DS2 (3.7) in front seat, and it's not top-heavy. Not even that heavy actually, compared with my umbrella stroller which I'm selling on ebay now.

You shouldn't really be having these problems as they are pretty good on the whole!

If its an old one you could try changing the bearings in the back wheels. Might help. Some silicone spray should loosen it up as well.

I've had a few and it depends on how they have been used as to how "good" they are...

I loved mine, actually had 2. make sure the tyres have plenty of air in.

Sorry to say but if you're using the cocoon then I doubt a buggy board will fit.
We have an explorer for DD who is 94cms and her legs are just long enough so that she can rest her feet flat on the footplate, before that they were dangling off getting in the way of the raincover. If that is what you mean about not getting the hood on? It does get better!

don't think you can use a buggy board on a P&T can you? I assumed you meant on another pushchair. I use mine on an old Loola, and it works well.

I have a buggy board on my p&t's (with 2 seats on), so they do work.

re slopey pavements, have you tried locking/unlocking the front wheel to see if that helps? Should be a knob behind front wheel you pull and twist (from recollection).

I've been using my p&t sport for 2 years with 2/3/4 year olds in it, all round London, on and off buses etc and never had an issue. Although I've only ever had the doubles seat at the back - don't know if that makes a difference?

For £75 perhaps yours needs some tlc?

You can use a buggy board on a p & T but it gets in the way of the brake when its down.

Buggy boards are just awful to use. TBH I would look at a really good side by side like a Nipper or TFK Twinner Twist Duo or Baby Jogger City Mini GT.

well I'm made massive improvements pocking around with the front wheel so it doesn't lock and changed an inner tube so it's much much better but...I still don't like it I think, giving it one more day.
-nowhere for shopping at all with two it
-it's a deadweight into boot
-hard to get second seat off before folding if it's on the back
-if the toddler seat is on top can't cover with hood
-I think I prefer the younger dc up front as the older one hops in and out and uses it much less
been offered £130, it is in good nick aside from light marking/ fraying at some edges.

I'm trying to replace a hauck duett but thinking nothing else will, the hauck is ugly and chunky but can get shopping and two seats, or with one seat a whole weekly shop underneath, handle is so long you don't kick a buggyboard and it's quite light and easy into the (small) boot as well as being very very stable.

Depends on your definition of stylish... and your budget. Etc etc...

I have to be honest OP, I really didn't like the P&T in the newborn and toddler mode; however, I absolutely love the buggy itself as either a single, or with 2 toddlers.
Like you said, I always had my youngest DD in the main seat because she was the main user and I didn't think it was fair for her to be stuffed in the back! There is 15 months between my DD1 and DD2, so DD2 would literally just hop in and out! It really was the easiest thing ever!
The only reason I didn't like it with a newborn was because I just didn't like the cocoon and found it really tricky trying to get a tiny baby in and out?
Seeing as you quite like the cocoon, I really would try and hold out with it so that you can try it in the toddler mode?
How about the Mountain Buggy +1? Is very similar to the P&T, but might work well?

I'm warming slowly, partly because ds can't get the raincover off in tantrum mode!

Are the seats always so stiff to get off, I hate pressing in those metal balls in tubes, my fingers are too soft and I need to use a key

Mine is pretty easy to get the seats on and off - wonder if yours has rusted or something? Could try a spot of oil, or take it in to a bike shop and ask them to have a look?
