Travel system advice please

HI, Expecting my first in June and I need advice on travel systems please! I would like one where the carrycot is rigid enough to be used alone as well as on the frame. Been looking at Mamas and Papas Sola but open to any ideas from more experienced Mums and Dads! Thanks

Yes, keep looking! The Sola is one of the worst pushchairs I have used. There's plenty of much better quality, smaller folding, better basket, better seated pushchairs out there with rigid carrycots. I would look up at least two decent sized independent pushchair shops locally and go and have a good look round. The iCandy Cherry, Babystyle Oyster, Mutsy Evo, Bugaboo's, Joolz Day, Baby Jogger Versa and City Mini etc should start you off.

What do you mean by using the carrycot alone as well as on it's frame? Do you mean on the floor? If so, the Quinny Buzz works for that, but I don't know how it compares to others as we only had that one.

2nd Tiggy - visiting good independent nursery shops & see what's on offer is a really good way to see what suits you. It's going to be a fair chunk of money you spend on a pushchair so trying out some options in the flesh is well worth it.

Also, remember that the car seat has to fit in your car too so it's best to get it fitted in your car before you buy just in case (I see loads of car seats from travel systems for sale on local FaceBook selling groups as they don't fit the car but it's not been checked until the pushchair has been bought and you can't return opened car seats!).

I got the icandy cherry. It wasn't cheap (can't remember price) but was the narrowest travel system I found (I lived in London and didn't want to be maneuvering a tractor around). I actually still use it with my DS who is 2 because you can turn the seat to face you and I talk to him when we're out to help with his language. Maxi cosi carseat fits it. Pram bit they sleep in when they are newborn is flat and hard but not too heavy so you can carry it around eg if you go to someone's house for dinner you can just carry pram top bit inside. The down side was that I sometimes found attaching and detaching the carseat a bit cumbersome, the price and the fact that there are only a limited number of places that stock them (john Lewis is one).

I'll be watching with an eagle eye too as i'm also looking for my first pram/travel system. I checked out the mamas and papas sola today (so its good to know that its not that great). I also checked out the uppababy vista - at the moment, i'm quite fancying the this one.

Cossato giggle comes with carrycot, rain overs, coseytoes, bag. Can also buy a car seat for it to. Also liked mutsy evo . Go to the baby show there's one in feb. if you go on the Sunday they sell the demo odes cheaper. I got offered the evo for £90.
