Our first baby is due in early August and we have started looking at prams. We are currently veering towards the Bugaboo. However, I'm not sure whether to go for the Bee or the Cameleon?

I prefer the look of the Bee, I'm not wild about the wheels on the Cameleon. However, I'm not sure about the fact that the Bee doesn't have a proper carrycot. Would a cocoon really be ok for a tiny newborn?

Is it worth buying a brand new travel system? Or would it make more sense to buy second hand and just get new fabrics?

Cocoon absolutely fine for newborn-they lie flat and are nicely snug and closely held. I think it is nicer than chameleon as are more swaddled than in conventional carrycot. Dd2 loved hers .

The cocoon would be fine, however I disagree with Gigondas because I think there is nothing nicer than having a baby snuggled up in a proper carrycot, or with room to lie cool in summer. The cocoon can be quite hot in summer.
Have you tried to put both up and down, lifting and carrying them, and putting them in and out of your boot.
Choose the one you like, but I think there is a lot more going for the Cameleon in so many ways that for me its no contest. I loved the Cameleon but have a love hate relationship with the Bee because its awkward to use, and too light. I have fallen out with it this winter because the footmuff gets in the way when parent facing and it got put back into a box until summer. The seat is fairly exposed too, with no sides.

As for buying new - if you can afford new, then there's a lot to be said for a Bugaboo warranty. If you can't, then buy second hand and be prepared to fix it if necessary / check a second hand one out properly before buying. There are lots of issues that could happen, but parts seem to be available to buy fairly easily.

I was worried that the cocoon wouldn't be sturdy enough... but I've looked at pics online and I can see how it could get quite stifling if there's hot weather. On the other hand I thought that paying the extra money for the Cameleon to get a carry cot that may only be used for 3 months may be foolish.

We definitely need to have a closer look and try folding them. It really is just teh wheels that put me off the cameleon, silly as it sounds. I think the big back wheels with the teeny front wheels just looks really odd.

We can afford new I just wasn't sure if it was a waste of money. I hadn't considered the warranty aspect though.

My dd (6 mo) was born last august and we opted for the cameleon and I have to say I love it. We are still using the carrycot and I'm so glad we had it as she's been so Cody and protected during the really cold weather. The carrycot was also lovely in the warm weather and is suitable fir overnight sleeping which we used it for when we went away. The only downside (which i knew about) was the fact that the basket underneath is really hard to access with the carrycot on, but we figured that we would be using the pushchair more so decided it wasn't really much of an issue for us. The wheels on the chameleon are IMO fantastic so manoeuvrable real one handed steering. Overall we love it

You could always add snow wheels to your Cameleon - but then you lose the fab easy steering! Ignore the wheels and look at the rest
