Shout out to Tiggywunkle: Will the Oyster Max be worth the trouble?

I have a 25 month old and a 9 week old. Until now I've been managing stoically with a sling and a clapped-out Maclaren Techno as our living circumstances make using a double impossible (Central London, 1st floor flat with no lift or storage, reliant on public transport etc). However, in the new year we're moving to the USA where we'll have a LIFT and SPACE - hurrah! - so naturally I'd planned to buy myself a big double pushchair to celebrate.

Was planning on a P&T Navigator until I saw the Oyster Max mentioned on here. I did some googling and now I'm in love! It looks practical, stylish, and I love the option of the children being able to face each other. Only problem is that they are not available in the US, so I'd have to find a UK retailer who would ship for us. As it won't be available until after we've moved we can't buy one here and take it with us. I don't mind waiting a few more weeks for one, but I'm not sure I want the hassle and added expense of getting it shipped over.

Are they really so fabulous, or should I just stick to plan A and get the Phil & Teds?

I think the Oyster Max is better than any P&T's - but they are different beasties as well :)

I love the Oyster Max - it works really well. I would go for it personally BUT my only caveat is that if you have any kind of issue - and it is a new production pushchair - that you would need to return it to the UK for repair etc.

I have an Oyster, not a Max though, and I'm currently on my third chassis , the first one also had a handle repair so it's been back to the shop 4 times since August. I am very thankful that the shop isn't too far away and that I didn't buy it online, so I would be very wary of buying a Babystyle product and then moving thousands of miles away! To be fair though their customer service has been great, and I do love the pram

Yes, that had occurred to me too (as the owner of a 2010 Bugaboo Bee with chronic wheel-shimmy I'm aware of the potential 'issues' with new production pushchairs!).

Also one of the advantages of buying once we're over there would be the favourable exchange rate making it relatively cheap (£400 for a brand new Navigator with doubles kit), so paying the full UK price plus shipping for the Oyster Max seems like a real extravagance.

I think it will have to remain my fantasy pushchair. Shame!

There are so many lovely strollers out there, orbit have their doubles kit. Even the standard strollers are really good out there. You won't be missing much.
