Uppababy vista rumble seat

I am expecting my second child in Feb. I have decided on the oyster max tandem, but now considering the uppababy vista with the rumble seat.

The uppababy is hands down my favourite pushchair for one, however the rumble seat does not get great reviews.

Does anyone use the rumble seat or know anything about about it?

Much appreciated, thanks,p.

I think the main issue is how to use the Vista + rumble seat with a newborn. The rumble seat doesn't fit on with the carrycot, you can fold the footrest of the main seat away underneath and have the newborn facing forwards and the toddler in the rumble seat facing the baby (and you) but it is a bucket seat so you need to flatten it somehow. I believe there is an accessory sold in the states, I don't know how much it flattens it. People will differ in how acceptable they find this to be. Or you can use a car seat (I presume) but none of these set ups are ideal for a newborn baby as there is no lie flat option in doubles mode. Fine for short trips but maybe not so much for other contexts?

I guess this would be the Uppababy double I seen in the pram centre the other week? They were selling it really really cheap and I loved it but they told me it isn't suitable for kids under 6 months. :(

oooh what counts as really really cheap and where? ??!

It was a few hundred on offer, I think around £299. Glasgow Pram Centre. Just had a look and it's not on the website for anywhere near that price but they were definitely selling with the 2nd seat for the reduced price instore. Confused

Ex-display maybe? Confused Wish I had put a deposit down now!

Yes, I have had both the Uppababy Vista with rumble seat and the Oyster Max. The Oyster Max is a tandem that will meet the needs of different ages fairly easily ie carrycot, car seat and seat options. My only issues are lack of basket access in tandem mode and the only slight recline on the lower seat for a younger baby - but in reality I would make my toddler compromise and put the baby parent facing on top in the main seat. Meanie mummy I know! But there's loads of options to work out exactly what is best for you.

The Rumble seat is really an add on seat rather than a full tandem. Its problematic for several reasons. First of all there is no newborn option unless you use a car seat or seriously wedge out the main seat. Secondly the Rumble seat is really upright - bolt upright - so if you have a child who is ever likely to nap, then its not suitable. Finally the weight limit on the rumble seat is quite low if you have a taller / bigger child. My friend and I both had the rumble seat, and both our children are tall for their age and we literally had a small window of opportunity to use the Rumble seat between the eldest not napping and the youngest being old enough to go in the seat, until the eldest being too heavy for the rumble seat - because at that point the eldest needs to move to the main seat but you have then lost your recline for the baby and it simply does not work. Its very nifty, but for children at specific stages and ages.

Hello

I am going to have a newborn and a 2 year old. I won't be able to use the Rumble seat and main seat until my toddler is 2.5 years old and baby 6 months. Is this a good age gap to use the Rumble seat from and how long have you guys who have used the Rumble Seat got out of it? Worried my daughter is going to hate facing me again as she likes looking out and if its worth forking out £100 for. We have a 2013 model so can't get the forward facing rumble seat, such a shame!

Thanks

We have friends who currently use the old vista with rumble seat for newborn and 20 month old. They just lay the top seat completely flat forward facing, and fold the leg rest upwards so it's out of the way of toddler. They have a newborn wedge and sheepskin in the seat for baby to make it flat
