ok so my dd is big, and by big i mean she (2.3) is quite a bit taller than my friends ds who is (3.5) and adverage size for his age. dd has contact with her father once a week. she doesnt walk far due to medical reasons. she has already outgrown silvercross pop stroller by alot!! but dd's father has a citroen c1 very small we have to literatly ramm the stroller in!!! any ideas on small but 'big' strollers??

NB: she has also just about outgrown silvercross 3d and mamas and papas sola. now having to use (for ourselves) uppababy vista, which wont last much past next summer :(

Hello,

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out pushchairs and buggies. Read our reviews of see which lightweight buggy was crowned best. [Spoiler alert is has a 25kg weight limit].

Hope that helps! Flowers

What's the nature of her medical problems? I mean, would a scooter or balance bike be better? I'm a cm and try to move the little ones out of pushchairs at around 2 so these can be a nice next step.

Do you think he would get a techno XT in his boot?

Sirzy · 08/12/2012 22:02

Maclaren Techno XT. My nephew is very tall for his age and can still sit in it now at nearly 4 (his younger brother uses it now)

I drive a corsa and can fit it in my boot.

piglettsmummy · 08/12/2012 22:06

I have no idea! When we put her silvercross pop in it takes a lot of pushing and manovering and a few naughty words and it always comes back with marks and scratches on it! Is
A techno bigger in height? It's only the length(height) of it that makes not so
Hard to get in his car!

I found a BJCM like a tank to push when I tried it with my heavy big 2 yr old but have seen one out and about with air tyres that might be better? No-one believes me but I really rate the micralite fastfold for big kids but it is long folded .

hazeyjane · 08/12/2012 22:21

Hello again, Piglettmummy!

I have just got rid of a Baby Jogger City Elite (like the mini, but with air tyres), ds fitted in it very comfortably (he is a big 2.5 - although quite short, there was tons of leg room). The only thing I didn't like about it, was that it wasn't very supportive, and as he has low tone, he tends to slump in it. I have replaced it with a Mountain Buggy, which is much more supportive, but also fits a bigger child, but it is huge when folded up.

We also have a Maclaren XT, which he fits into really well, and folds pretty small.

piglettsmummy · 08/12/2012 22:24

Hey hazyjane!!Grin thanks il take a look at the Maclaren every that I no who isn't on here seems to suggest it Smile

My tall four year old still regularly goes in our phil and teds!

peanutMD · 09/12/2012 13:14

I bought an XT for my DS when he was 2 and in age 3-4 clothing after recommendations about the "big" seat but we got rid after about a month because he could drag his feet on the wheels or on the ground if he leant forward.

He also never looked comfortable in it due to his size.

We ended up with a BJCM which was excellent and had a massive seat that he child not get near the wheels or floor because of the angle which the footrest was at, can't recommend highly enough for a big child.

However the fold may be an issue as it would for any tbh due to the small boot, if you can't fit a pop in you may struggle to find something that will. My only suggestion on this would be the Zapp as it folds tiny but I don't know about size.

Inclusionist · 09/12/2012 13:31

How tall is she? My DS (also 2.3) is 101cm and 41lb. He is still very comfortable in his BJ CityMini and it folds away into nothing.

I also have a BJ Summit x360 and I have to say that is fantastic. He has so much room in it I'm sure he'll still be able to use it when he's 5 for flaking out on long walks etc. It is not small but it is very easy to get the wheels on and off which makes it easier to pack into a small space.

Inclusionist · 09/12/2012 13:35

Just re-read OP. My DH drives a C1 and the BJCM goes in the boot fine. Smile

TheHoHoHonlyWayisGerard · 09/12/2012 13:44

Get the BJCM. My tall and heavy (98th centile for both) DD still has loads of room left at two years. Has a 25kg weight limit in the USA. I can get it lying flat in the boot of an old style KA with room for shopping if you take the back wheels off, which is really easy to do.

BieneMaja · 09/12/2012 17:27

I would suggest a Maclaren volo. Because the seat isn't on an extra frame it is really roomy. The seat is a bit lower so it makes it easier to push with a heavy load in it!

My DD is an average 6 year old and can still sit comfortably in it. In fact lady NYE I pushed her AND her larger best friend in it with DD on friends lap.

Also shorter when folded than the XT which is a bit of a beast.

No recline, but I would have thought at 2.5 that wouldn't be a big issue.

BieneMaja · 09/12/2012 17:29

Average SIZED 6 year old... Nothing else average about my wonderful DD WinkSmileEnvy

Tiggywunkle · 10/12/2012 14:49

The Baby Jogger City Mini, GT or Summit would all be great. Have a look here for photos of a tall 3 year old and also to see how small they fold.

Tiggywunkle · 10/12/2012 15:59

Just to add the Britax B-Agile has a big seat too and is great for older toddlers. I have a Kiddy City 'n' Move as well and my 4 year old looks lost in the seat.

piglettsmummy · 10/12/2012 21:28

Thanks guys I har decided to go with the BJCM as we will need it atleast a year.! Will be buying one when I shift my 1st of 3 pushchairs to be sold Blush

Baby Jogger City Mini GT is a bargain here incase it helps, we paid just over £250. (I don't work for the website, honest)
