Maclaren techno xt or city mini ?

Please help. I have a 3 mo with reflux and want to move to a stroller soon. Would like something light, easy to steer say if walking a dog. Good on bumpy ground, takes up minimal space in the car -would like to have the boot back once in a while for dogs ... Also like good weather protection and decent shopping basket. These are the two options I was considering ??

We have the maclaren xt and it is really long. It's a squeeze to get it the boot of my polo and seems to take up much more space than you'd think for a stroller!

I wish I'd bought a city mini.... The fold is fab, one hand and flat.

There are pros/cons for both (cost was a factor for us) but my brain isn't working very well today Smile

I would always go with the City Mini, but with bumpy ground, I recommend you look at the GT version or the Elite. Both of these have almost exactly the same chassis size. It is just the wheels that make the difference in folded size. So the wheels are simple to pop off - takes a second - which means you could have a small folding pushchair with good off road wheels.

i have had a mac xt which i loved..but not as much as my bjcm (gt wasn't around when bought mine) the mac has a very 'long' fold and had to go diagonally in my boot.. also its got two handles and can have a mind of its own if trying to push with one hand. the bjcm's handle is lovely in comparison - oh and you wont get the xt's sticky handle syndrome on the bjcm either. both have extendable hood - but honestly, once you buy the bjcm, there aint no lookin' back :)

Sammysamsam - 100% agree with everything you've written. It's a rickety Xt versus a rock solid Bjcm and there's really no contest!

Thanks for the posts - just need to get a good price now ! Do I really need the gt for a gravelly path round a lake or will the standard city mini do the job ok ??

Best to see if you can go and have a look at both of them (mini and GT) and see which you prefer. I have an elite and I love it but it is a bit of a beast compared to city mini! The GT is about a kg heavier which might be a factor in your decision making, the mini is surprisingly great over bumpy ground and gravel so I'm sure you'd be fine. Just depends how much 'off roading' you're planning on doing!!
