Lightweight strollers that have a carrycot option?

minipie · 18/09/2012 16:32

Can anyone tell me some strollers that have a carrycot option? I am looking for something that will be a good lightweight stroller but which I could also put a carrycot on for the newborn stage.

Extending handles would be a bonus as I am short and DH is tall.

I know the BJCM fits this bill but are there others? and are they any good...?

thanks

PS Tiggy is your June here yet? Smile

In theory the June should be better on rough ground than the Cruz since the June has air tyres and the Cruz has hard wheels and very limited suspension. However as I recall, Tiggy was surprised how well the Cruz coped on rough-ish ground like grass despite its lack of visible suspension... Tiggy is that right? The June would still be better in the countryside though I'm sure.

The other benefit of the June (for me and other shorties) is that the handle height has a massive range going right down to 88cm (does tall heights too) whereas Cruz's shortest height is 101cm.

Annoyingly, having done a bit more research, there seem to be very very few pushchairs out there with short handles. The Bee does, and some of the Mamas & Papas models (Urbo and Sola I think) but the M&P have poor reviews for bits breaking and terrible aftersales service...

Gosh don't even start me on the awful awful Sola and the horribly hard Urbo!!! But the suspension in the Cruz felt like the Urbo which made my hands hurt! But yes I could drive the Cruz over roughing ground and over bumps and small kerbs no problem. In theory the air tyres should make the June better. Theres other things though - the June if I remember kind of slides together. The Cruz 'breaks' in half and there's pointy sticky out bits that I was convinced would scratch or dent my car. iWeb the Cruz stands its a ^ shaped this when you pick it up the chassis flaps and traps your fingers if you are unlucky! The fact the June seat folds with the seat in in either direction. I love that the hood slides away leaving clear views of your child. The Cruz has the huge basket though!
I can't wait for Thursday but I have something just as exciting coming tomorrow first ;)

Diamond7 · 24/09/2012 22:33

Ooh ooh ooh! What what what?

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2012 13:00

I have an Oyster Max :D :D :D
Its luffly!! Really really luffly!!!
Now there's another pushchair to throw into this mix :)

As for the June...they didn't arrive at the retailer as they expected yesterday....hopefully today :)

minipie · 26/09/2012 13:11

Shock but I thought they weren't out till end of the year Tiggy - or has that changed?

Ooh lots of questions for you! Does it have the same seating issues as the Oyster? What is it like as a single (is it v heavy like lots of the ones that convert)? What is the handlebar height range?

And mainly...when is it being released to us mere mortals without an inside track Wink?

Lots of questions...I can't answer re the dates...that's one to ask Babystyle.
It's much lighter than most other tandems...I was pleasantly surprised.
I haven't measured anything yet...its only been here 24 hours but I have taken lots of photos. There appears to be an extra recline position which gives a more upright seating position...I can't see signs of slumping but then the children haven't been in it for that long either...but I am quietly hopeful :)
It all seems excellent so far....give me a few weeks though :)

As for the June....growly! It's definitely still in the Netherlands....and won't be leaving there for another week :(( plus shipping time to the uk and turn around time here. I reckon about the 10th / 11th at the earliest now :(

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2012 15:01

Let me find and bump up the oyster max thread...it would make more sense to keep questions on thereof I can find it.

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2012 15:01

There if....sorry!

minipie · 26/09/2012 15:22

Thanks Tiggy! It looks very shiny in the pics. Will have to see what I can find out about the dates... my due date is 7 December!

drat about the June delay. But if there isn't going to be a London stockist I think I probably have to write it off anyway. Easywalker if you are reading GET A LONDON STOCKIST. Even if you have to bribe them Smile

Wow an oyster max. Will check out the trend. DOn't think it fits my spec yet. Maybe when the send is one it's way......... Can't believe the June won't be here until the 10th/11th. I dying with anticipation!

Minipie - I'll keep pestering Tommy's. Maybe I'll pop in and talk to them. My family is in Cheshire so at least I have the option to pop up there but the Cruz has a 6-8 week wait so I need to be quick about it.

Diamond7 · 26/09/2012 16:29

Just posted on easy walker Facebook page about getting a London stockist. I'll keep you posted.

Did find out the seat to the ground height is 42 cm. Not sure how this compares to the Bee.

Tiggywunkle · 26/09/2012 16:30

I took the Versa out yesterday and that seat seemed pretty low to the ground...it doesn't look it though! I ought to measure it when I get chance.

DeeDee77 · 26/09/2012 23:17

I contacted Ladybugs (Cheshire) today as I have decided that I need to make a trip up north to check out this bad boy. They expect June stock in next week (weren't sure which day exactly), as EasyWalker were due to be despatched by the end of this week. Should hopefully have the pushchairs and carrycots on display.

Ihateparties · 26/09/2012 23:57

Pramworld website shows the june as in stock... I'm dubious. They're also northwest somewhere I think..

Tiggywunkle · 27/09/2012 00:25

In theory, if all went well, then the June could well have arrived in stores today :S
Mine has been a silly admin error delay :(

surfingluby · 27/09/2012 14:40

Micralite :-)

TribbleTuckandDismount · 30/09/2012 13:41

How is the Versa Tiggy? Is it everything we hoped for?

Tiggywunkle · 30/09/2012 23:59

I really like the Versa - its the best of the Baby Joggers in one IYKWIM.
Its gorgeous to push - I love pushing it.
The fold is easy.
I haven't got the hang of the unfold but I think its because I need to stand it upside down to store it or else it falls over ie wheels in the air - and I forget to turn it around to open. Its a bit on the heavy side to carry, but the weight makes it feel lovely and sturdy to push.
I like it a lot.

TribbleTuckandDismount · 01/10/2012 13:22

What kind of size is it folded? Is it the same as the city mini?

Ihateparties · 01/10/2012 13:29

here I'm sure I've seen a side by side pic, I don't think it's far off the same size. It's very flat.

TribbleTuckandDismount · 01/10/2012 13:35

Oooooo sounds lovely!!! I really really really really need one!

Diamond7 · 01/10/2012 13:58

I went to JL last weeks to ask about the Versa and the sales people didn't have a clue what I was talking about?

It was the big Oxford Street branch too.

Tiggy - Any news on when your June will arrive? Which colour did you go with? As we're team yellow, I think we'd go black. I like the of white but guessing it's not a very practical colour.

minipie · 01/10/2012 13:58

www.bestbuggy.co.uk/compare-pushchairs/baby-jogger-cityversa-2/baby-jogger-city-mini-single/ side by side dimensions. Looks like the versa is a little longer than the city mini when folded but narrower and flatter. It's a lot heavier though.

I find people in nursery shops and departments generally, unless it's a really good one, don't seem to keep up with new models etc. No clue why, seems odd. Maybe it's just work so they're not interested or something. Do John Lewis sell baby jogger at all? I thought they did. Not very many places seem all that interested in what people might actually want, mostly just in selling what they have, however impractical
