Lightweight buggy for travelling and beach- BJCM or Maclaren?

I've been thinking about investing in a second pushchair to use when travelling and to take on the beach (I live in Malta, so I go to the beach a lot). I currently have the Bugaboo Chameleon, and I love it! The problem is I love it a bit too much to take it on the beach, and I found the two-fold mechanism a little tricky when using the Metro in paris (since gates are rarely manned)
I was originally thinking of getting an umbrella fold pushchair, but after reading several reviews, I'm getting attracted to the Baby Jogger City Mini.
I'm pretty sure they don't sell it in Malta, so I won't get to test it out first hand, so I thought I'd ask the experts on Mumsnet if they think the BJCM would be suitable for my needs, or if a maclaren will do.
Can the BJCM be classified as a lightweight?
I would like to be able to push one handed, since I think this is essential in airports- can you do this with BJCM & Maclaren?

Hello,

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out lightweight strollers and buggies. Here's our round up of the best buggies available to buy now

Hope that helps!

BJCM without a doubt!

We bought a bjcm for holiday etc and use it more than the 650£ normal buggy Blush... So light, good rain/sun hood etc

BJCM everytime. But it's rubbish on deep sand. You have to drag it. Well I certainly do with the lump that is DD in it!

LegoAcupuncture · 18/08/2012 22:35

Have you thought about a Micralite for the sand?

Ninunina · 19/08/2012 10:37

Just had a look at the Micralite- I can see why it would be good for sand, but it looks a little too "modern" for my liking. Does it look like it's from outer-space in real life?

Yes but it's great to push....

They are fab all round Ninu, really good to push one handed as well.

BJCM - absolute superstar all-rounder, you won't be disappointed (I've also had a maclaren!!)
