Just ordered my Vista!

Went to pram centre today and played with the vista, the Cruz, the oyster and the mutsy EVO. After a long time folding amd unfolding and trying carrycot then seat unit we have ordered the Vista!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my posts about them all! Just hope I don't change my mind now!

izzy (hello!) would you mind sharing your thoughts on the others? Cruz and Oyster are on my shortlist (Vista is a bit big for me) and just wondered why you went for the Vista instead of those.

Hi mini

Of course I dont mind :-) although it may be a long post!

MUTSY EVO - I wasn't as keen on the chassis on this as the handle initially as it iisn't extending but rotating when you play with it it actually works well and would be great with a buggy board which was a consideration for us. The carry cot is ok but viewing panel not quite as big as the vista or cruz. The carrycot itself is heavy, felt quite heavy compared to the vista. Even shop assistant pointed this out. It needs adapters for carrycot and different ones for the carseats and they need removed for seat unit which was a but fiddly. When the seat unit is in place it is quite a bit lower than the vista or cruz which I didn't like and I found the fabric quality nicer on vista and cruz also. Basket smaller than the upppababys too.

OYSTER - This was my first love after some online research. Seen it in the flesh at baby show and liked it but never got a good play. I LOVE the colour packs but I think this was swaying me more than it should! Basket is smaller than than the others. Can be folded with seat unit both ways but longer parent facing. Didn't really like the look of colour pack seat liner as it makes seat smaller and looks odd somehow. The viewing window is small. Three different chassis available, mirror and black are dearer but have leatherette handle which is smart and we felt the foam handle on the silver chassis was much poorer quality when compared to the leather one or the cruz, vista or evo. Carrycot and seat are very low, most noticeable on the carrycot. I know height adapters are available but seems a bit annoying, and these only raise by 10cm anyway.

CRUZ - We liked this a lot. Big basket. UV sun shades are very handy as parasols are a pain. Chassis is narrower than Vista but we took measuring tape and it's actually only 3" difference. Wheels look very small compared to vista. Carrycot is smaller, not much in it length or width but the depth is a LOT shallower than the vista carrycot. Seat unit nice but no bumper bar available yet- I like a bumper bar as handy for toys etc and I feel a bit safer almost from leaning toddlers! When folded the chassis is actually taller than the vista when stood side by side so would be longer when laid flat in a car boot. Fabric didn't seem as wipe cleanable as the vista fabric. Carrycot only available in black. Brake is a foot operated kick brake so not flip flop friendly. Would have to buy adapters for car seat.

VISTA- Huge basket. Sun shadesmlike the cruz. Can add piggyback board, curved rear axle which means you won't kick it walking even with a long stride. Only 3" wider but better suspension and tyres. Fabric quality was nicer and more wipeable. Carrycot is deeper and can be used overnight which we felt could be handy if we away for a weekend or something. Folded quite flat and wheels pop on and off super easily if needed. We tried it in our boot and it would stand up without parcel shelf but to lie flat we may need to pop a wheel off. It takes a second to do and we don't even know if it's definitely needed as our boot was had crap in it so couldn't tell for definite without taking all the stuff out the boot! Seat unit is nice and high as is carrycot. Maxi cosi adapters included. Foot muff available to match which looked cosy. Carrycot is also coloured rather than just black, a silly thing maybe but felt important to mention especially if compared to they oyster where can choose lots of colours! Brake on vista is a touch on touch off so brill for summer shoes as your toes won't get hurt! Also it's the which best buy at 86% on a side note when we were looking a customer actually came over to tell us how fab it was which was nice!

I think that covers it but I've probably missed lots! Feel free to ask anything tho!

Thats a great summing up [wunk]!

I have a vista and absolutely adore it. I have the 2011 version. So easy to interchange the parts and to fold. And basket holds masses. Enjoy.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 30/07/2012 22:57

Thanks tiggy that means a lot especially from such an expert! Writing it all down just confirms we made the right choice for us :-). We spent so long the assistant was getting annoyed with us, two hours almost playing!

Its well worth playing though. You did exactly the right thing. I myself am guilty of walking into pram shops, stroking them, having a small push but feeling too intimidated at times to fold, carry, recline etc them. Its a lot of money to spend and a pushchair has to work for you!
Enjoy your Vista when it arrives.

Thanks izzy that's really useful! I do like the sound of the vista and the cruz... it's the extra weight as well as the extra width that pushes me towards the Cruz. I hadn't realised the brake is different, will have to see if the Cruz brake seems annoying! Also hadn't realised the fabric is different...hmmm. Will see if we can try out getting them in the car boot!

There is supposedly a bumper bar for the Cruz becoming available about now but no idea where you get it from.

Tiggywunkle · 31/07/2012 20:39

I actually liked the Cruz brake. It clicked on really satisfyingly - I like to know a brake is on. I thought it was one of the best features!

minipie · 01/08/2012 00:25

I've seen other reviews saying it's a kick brake on the Cruz but other people say it's not, as you can step on the top back of the brake to release. Looks like it is flip flop friendly (not that we need that in this weather Hmm) but not obviously so.
