SarahM82 · 24/07/2012 16:06

I am looking at the Bugaboo Donkey for my 18 month old and soon to be newborn. I have heard that there is Bugaboo Donkey soon to be released? Is this true? and what are people's opinions?
Thanks

The Donkey in essence stays exactly the same. The only difference (and it is a huge difference if storage or boot space is an issue) is that the fold can now go flatter if you remove the larger rear wheels. There is a slight difference to the locking mechanism too because of new safety regulations.

Ooo that's interesting! I was having a nosy in mothercare the other day and asked the sales assistant to show me the donkey folded, she did and I said "who the hell designed that! If they had made that bit 2 cm narrower it would be a virtually flat fold!" glad that bugaboo spotted it too. Now they just need to make the cameleon basket easy to get into in carrycot mode, and make a carrycot for the bee and they have 3 perfect pushchairs.

Does anyone know when this will be released? I definitely want to get one but don't want to end up with an old model.

September I believe but there's usually a six week order lead time, so bear that in mind (but check with your retailer as some hold stock).

I ordered my donkey today! Grin I am due dc2 in less than a month and was toying with holding off for the new chassis. However it is definitely not coming out until the end of September. Also, bugaboo are not releasing any more of the old type chassis so the only way to get a donkey before the end of September (providing you have preordered of course) is to find a retailer with the current version in stock. The good news is you can get some really good deals and everyone is price matching each other. I was told by two retailers today that they would not be doing any deals on the new version for a while yet. I therefore decided that as we won't be folding it that often and we have a large car boot anyway that it made more sense to get a good deal on the current version that I can start using from day one than have to wait and pay a premium for the new version. I'm just hoping it will still hold its value by the time it comes to sell it. Hope this helps anyone in. Similar position.
