Which Phil and Teds??
Shangers · 12/07/2012 18:49
I've been going back and forth between whether I need a double buggy or not as DS1 will be 3.5 by the time DS2 is born in December... I've finally decided that I need a phil and teds - There are going to be enough times that I need it to make it worthwhile and we're planning DC3 reasonably soon after DC2 so decision made.... we need a double...... but which one?? I've gone through all the other brands and decided that it's the P&T workhorse that I need.
I liked the Vibe but a lot of people have said they hated it.... I thought I should be going for one of the older style classic/sport/dash/explorer..... and then I made the mistake of looking on the P&T website and they have two new ones to consider!! I like the idea of it being a bit smaller (Dot) but will it be big enough??
If I decide on one of the older ones I'll try and buy a second hand but if the new ones are worth it (mostly for the second seat recline) I'll stretch the budget to get new.
... oh yeah and I live abroad so I need to decide which to buy in the next 4 weeks while I'm in the UK!
So please someone tell me which P&T you like the best and why?? Help me decide!
thanks in advance!

I bought a (new) Hammerhead seat to go on my (2nd hand) Explorer. Hammerhead seat reclines.

I think you might be right about getting the reclining second seat..... didn't know you can mix and match though. Sylvie - how did you know that the hammerhead would fit the explorer?

I have just been looking at them! The new ones look nice the Promenade and Dot I was looking at. Your right there are loads of them, I`ll lurk I think!

I believe the Sport doubles kit seat fits the Explorer too, and that reclines...but please check.

How did I know? Think I found the info on here tbh! Although I seem to remember finding something on the P&T website about which things fit on which pushchairs. I think Vibe have a different set of fittings but Explorer / Hammerhead definitely have the same type of fittings (round tubular bits, sorry don't know how to explain). I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell you though.

Sylvie is correct in that some P&Ts eg the Sport, Hammerhead, Explorer have pin fittings for the doubles kits. The Verve and Vibe have different fittings.
The main thing to look for with an already over 3.5 year old, is the head height in newborn mode. When the baby is first born the doubles kit goes on top of the main seat - not underneath. On some models eg the Dash, the head height for a child is very restricted. The Explorer has a higher head height for example. I would urge you to go to a P&Ts stockist and put your eldest on the doubles kit on the front and see how they get on. The raincover can be very close to the child's face in this position too.
Have you looked at the Mountain Buggy +One because I would recommend it for the versatility ie single / double mode / buggy board on the rear / hidden seat just in case etc.
