BJCM GT questions

After much pondering, we have decided this is the one for us. Was looking at it yesterday and decided that I don't like the set-up with the compact carrycot on the frame with the seat unit on too. The lady in the shop said that you can get a hard bodied traditional style carrycot now.

Can anyone tell me if you can take the seat fabric off and use the the new carrycot with just the frame? I think it would look much neater this way. Also is the new hard bodied carrycot bigger than the compact carrycot. The compact carrycot looked tiny and I worry that we wouldn't get much use out of it.

Also what about using a bugaboo cocoon in there, would that be a cheaper option? We tried it in the shop and the straps fit through.

Yes I'm sure you could use the bugaboo cocoon in there. Carry cots can often be outgrown quite quickly anyway.
The BJ gt is a lovely pushchair btw.

Yes, you can certainly remove the fabric and put on any of the 3 carrycots onto the bare BJCM chassis. The only comment I have is from a fellow MN who said that the hard bodied carrycot sits very high on the chassis whereas the compact ones I believe are lower. There's some photos here
I have also used a Bugaboo cocoon in my BJCM and it worked well. The cocoon lasted us around 10 months and my son was a big baby, so it could well last 12 months. Bugaboo Cocoon in the double here so similar.
The BJCMGT is a fabulous pushchair and would serve anyone very well.

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated. I think I am just going to search ebay and gumtree and get the carrycot second hand as they are quite expensive new and don't look like they would last long. I think I will see if I can also pick up a bugaboo cocoon too as we do lot's of air travel so it would be easier to have it like that for through the airport and being able to gate check.

Is it worth getting the travel bag??
