Bugaboo cam
Bugaboo bee+
iCandy strawberry

Or bug bee AND bug cam...

I'm going mental.

I need,RF ,smallish to store,pushes well.
I don't drive but I need to find somewhere in the house to store it easily.
I already have an MB+one and a maxi cosi noa.
We walk everywhere,i walk fast and a lot. Grin

The iCandy will be very difficult for me to get hold of because of the blardy "only sell in store" bull, and doesn't come up 2nd hand often.
The bee+ can have ishoos.
The cam is a two part fold which I'm not keen on.

I want an easywalker June but I'm too sodding impatient and they keep putting their release dates back Angry

Was it an Apple? A Peach?

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 19:54

I'll do you a deal, Frigg.

I need something lightweight to carry up the (outside) stairs to my flat with PFB in a sling. Parent facing. Suitable from birth. Nice big wheels to cope with crap rural pavements and so dp can take PFB running.

I'm pondering the Obaby Zezu but open to suggestions.

You buy it, i'll take it off your hands in September.

Deal Or No Deal?

Wink
Ihateparties · 12/06/2012 19:55

It's the two piece fold problem and they're all two piece folds apart from the strawberry...

Tabitha8 · 12/06/2012 19:56

Buy an Apple and sell it to me. I like the sky blue.

Ihateparties · 12/06/2012 20:02

I can never remember the specifics but shortly someone will be along with the recommendations for running with a pushchair... basically it's not recommended till 6 or possibly 12 months and then you need massive wheels. A proper specific piece of equipment. Equally someone will probably also say they ran with their phil and teds. Def you could not reasonably run with a Zezu!

PurplePidjin, I'm not sure what you want currently exists! Light to carry up the stairs, parent facing, big wheels... hmmmm. Thinking cap on... what do you classify as light btw?

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 20:09

We're hoping to do a deal with SIL for her now out of use p+t sport for later on :)

I accept i may not get everything, the running part is the least important requirement but pneumatic tyres would be good just because the pavements around here aren't very well maintained. I plan to get fit by walking (my parents are 3 miles away, gran 1.5, shops etc 0.5).

Lightweight means i could carry a slung baby, the pushchair and possibly a bag of shopping up one flight of 22 steps. I'm fairly fit and plan to improve that as far as possible possibly deluding self

TruthSweet · 12/06/2012 20:21

A Zezu is not a running pushchair

Have a look here (good articles on the side bar too) and here.

Ideally if you are going really off road or conversely running in a very urban situation (running on pavement by roadside or alongside country roads) baby needs to have a cycle helmet on and be 12m in case of an accident/pushchair flipping.

milk · 12/06/2012 20:25

Save and get the Donkey Grin

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 20:48

So you really can't do on road running until 6m?? I knew it was a bad idea to go off road - and tbh for the Forest running dp does, it'll be sling/baby carrier and join the walkers group anyhow - but was hoping they could go out gently for a little while once s/he gains head control. Dp wants to show his PFB off to his mates!

Right, i shall just go for Biggest Wheels Possible and decent-ish suspension for comfort on long walks then. Is that more realistic?

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 20:49

Milk, what's a Donkey? And my mum's paying so i need to keep it reasonable...

TruthSweet · 12/06/2012 21:01

If you want to go off road you need a dedicated off-roader with 3 wheels, cracking suspension AND baby to be, well not really a baby!

For off road walking, something like a Mountain Buggy, Easylife (designed to take children up to 45kg up NZ hills!), a BOB, or similar would be good.

For running you want something like a Schwinn, Baby Jogger (the dedicated running type not the City series), again a BOB or similar.

Something like this - jogging/running, this - jogging/running or this - off roading but not running.

If DP is very serious about running off road a BOB would be a really good bet (you can get them imported from the US) but it's not worth getting until baby is older - save cluttering up the house!

Tiggywunkle · 12/06/2012 21:05

Tabitha
Frigg loves her iCandy, and it's no reflection on the pushchair at all, nor on the many other pushchairs she has had in the last year (apart from those that broke, squeaked, wobbled or frayed.) Unfortunately Pramaholicism is something made worse by too many hours on this MN group and hearing about all the great pushchairs that a true pramaholicism has to cram in to try before their child refuses to sit in a pushchair ever again....Shock Shock Shock Shock
At that point a new hobby / collecting habit - possibly for shoes, handbags, scooters, bikes or even shopping trolleys needs to be found! But until then, there are pushchairs to buy, try and sell on :D

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 12/06/2012 21:06

Hah! You think you've got problems. I now HAVE to buy a fucking Maclaren Sad Angry, cant find anything else that fills the spec.

Ihateparties · 12/06/2012 21:06

Sounds like maybe you just need two things realistically.. Something for you day to day and something else for the running/serious walking?

For what you need day to day, ie the carrying up stairs with the baby and the stuff (which you're exactly right, is how life is, if you've gone out inevitably and indeed increasingly with children sometimes you return with more stuff!) is hard to find in tandem with something that has decent tires and suspension, is light and has a one piece fold. If you plan to carry it, along with slung baby plus shopping all in one trip then you're not going to be able to deal with two parts of pushchair.

I dunno... I lived in a flat first time round and after some experimentation ended up doing two trips each time. You may end up having to really figure out which part is more important - how the thing pushes and features it has (suspension, big air tyres, reversible seat etc) set against things which are a lot more portable for the carrying up and down you will need to do but probably totally different beasts to push.

Bit of a conundrum even without the running - rough pavements/terrain vs portability.

Tiggywunkle · 12/06/2012 21:10

Don't even suggest the Donkey to Frigg. We talked her out of that already (and 101 other pushchairs) and she keeps coming back to the Bee and Strawberry! She needs to get these two out of her system!!!!!!! Otherwise I can see the perfect (for Frigg) June being ditched for a Bee (not suitable for Frigg!!)

Tiggywunkle · 12/06/2012 21:11

Honey ((((((hugs))))) there must be another choice surely????
What do you need?
How was the Cam?

LiberteEgaliteFRIGGernite · 12/06/2012 21:14

honey surely a BJCM4 would fit all the specs and be better than a mac?! Shock

OP posts:
HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 12/06/2012 21:34

Nooooo

Bjcm can't carry over shoulder with puppy in one hand toddler holding other
Cheap stroller can't push one handed when necessary
Uppababy G luxe has no carry strap
Quinny yezz has no basket

So stuck with having to choose a Quest or Volo I can't find anything else.

And now Ive hijacked your thread Frigg, for sympathy.

I have shame

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 21:53

We're not going to even try and walk/run off road without appropriate equipment.

All pushchair use will be on a pavement - a lumpy pavement at times, but tarmac all the same. Possibly a shortcut across the grass in the park.

I would ideally like something i can carry with baby (can leave baby in sling and come back for shopping) because i would rather not leave my child alone in the house to go a fair distance back downstairs to fetch the buggy. Once we're actually up the stairs, it's much safer because there's a line of sight. If necessary I'll start lifting weights now :o

I think parent facing is more important to me than suspension, but anything with those silly little shopping trolley wheels won't cope with the kind of use I'd like...

Honey, we're not hijacking, we're distracting Frigg from unnecessary purchases. Wink

TruthSweet · 12/06/2012 22:01

Ooops - did I over do the 'no running with baby' sctick? Sorry didn't mean to frighten you just I have nightmares of people running cross country with tiny newborns in Maclarens......Wink

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 12/06/2012 22:01

Very good point Purple Wink

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 22:12

Luckily i have more sense! My dad builds pedalcars as a hobby (google the pedal car grand prix, it's fantastic!!) so I'm hoping he might build me something for later on :o

If we take out any mention of running, is there anything other than the Zezu for around the same money that fits? I'm thinking i could get the relevant carseat and have the travel system option if i want it...

Tiggywunkle · 12/06/2012 22:13

I like Frigg being distracted. Can we please keep this up until August 1st??? In the grand scheme of things ie since the June was first unveiled, a month and a half is the home straight!

Meanwhile, Honey, why not buy a Yezz and a decent rucksack for the shopping?

Tiggywunkle · 12/06/2012 22:18

Purple, sorry for ignoring you. I have been dealing with children plus Frigg whilst doing the nursery run, swimming lessons, Tesco shop, tea and washing!

Would something like a Baby Jogger City Mini GT or Elite do? Or a Versa GT if you want parent facing? Or the now famous Easywalker June could probably be pulled up the stairs behind you? However the Versa and June aren't light to lift. Are the wheels important if you take running out of the equation?

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 22:31

The wheels are a preference, mainly based on my limited knowledge of bikes and pedal cars - light frame + big wheels = better ride...

Parent facing, then portability when folded, then wheel size. I plan to make myself get out everyday, seeing as there's a butcher 3 minutes walk away and supermarket 5 minutes, so a basket would be an essential especially as Pidjchick will need to be slung up the stairs (that last bit looks wrong somehow!) which probably discounts a rucksack...
