Quinny zapp Xtra

Is the seat unit suitable from birth? Quinny thinks so but it doesn't look like it would be to me. Has anyone actually used one from birth?

It is suitable from birth but its not really as flat as I would like. It also feels very exposed for a new baby. We got ours when my baby was about a month old, and although it was still summer, I didn't like how open the Zapp Xtra seat felt. I immediately bought a Bugaboo cocoon which was the best thing I ever bought. Not only did he feel more snug, but the Bugaboo cocoon has a bit of a wedge shaped bottom and flattens the seat out better. You also flip the Xtra seat footrest up to keep the seat level.
I really liked it although the seat when parent facing didn't have the setting I wanted later on - I can't even remember now if it was a partial recline or sitting upright position (I think its the latter).
But the downfall of the pushchair was when we used to swap between car seat and seat unit, and we lost the adaptors for the Xtra seat unit. They cost an extortionate £30 to replace and they are soooooo easy to misplace (we made a drawstring bag for them and still lost them) and TBH we couldnt afford to keep replacing them. I now tell people if you want to use a car seat as well, then buy a second hand chassis and keep one for the car seat, and one for the Xtra seat. Just to add, I also recommend buying 2 second hand chassis - because they are much looser to use - new Zapp chassis are stiff and really really hard work on your arms - frustratingly so - and then buy the Xtra seat to go on top (strip the fabric off and keep it until your LO is older).
