here never fails.

The dettol stuff has bleach in and stinks to high heaven, its a bit harsh to use on a pushchair. Have you tried milton?

issyocean · 28/05/2012 20:19

It's fine to use on a pushchair.I have cleaned up several this way (reformed pramaholic, got a kick out of refurbishing dodgy prams)Just wash in machine afterwards,if you can take fabric off frame.(wool wash). If you can't, hose down in garden and turn upside down to dry.

Milton won't shift black mould spores.

issyocean · 28/05/2012 20:20

or even mold spores Grin

frumpet · 28/05/2012 20:39

Ok , its red P&T fabrics , do you reckon that would still be ok ? not sure i can wash in a machine as the main seat fabric has metal wire thingys in it , but could certainly hose it done in the bath with the shower .

Yes should be fine just leave on for a short period and repeat as necessary. If you are worried do a test patch.

frumpet · 28/05/2012 21:06

right short period , care to divulge your idea of short period ? Smile

I'd say 10 mins rinse off then have an other go if you need to.I have left it on for an hour before on a brittax carseat and it was fine.

Another vote for dettol M&M, used it many a time (another recovering pramaholic!)

With P&Ts you can wash most of it in the machine, the large seat unit in the bath and hang on the washing line and hose down really really really well 9or bubbles come up the first time you get rained on Blush)

issyocean · 29/05/2012 07:11

Hi were you on the original pushchair chat thread with Nicolamumof3 ect? I used to be lillypie.

BadNails · 29/05/2012 07:17

I came on here to recommend the Dettol and I see it has been done! Just mind your clothes, it's powerful stuff. And it's great for whitening up your yellow grout.

I heart Dettol M+M removed basically.

BadNails · 29/05/2012 07:17

remover

DaisyMaisyJessicaEmily · 29/05/2012 07:30

Yes, I used to be lots of other names Issy (mainly TheOtherMaryPoppins at that time I think?)

I make my own M&M now, 50/50 cheapo thin bleach from tesco 30p/water in a spray bottle, does the same although would imagine a virgin to all this would prefer to use the real thing at first till they have the faith Grin

issyocean · 29/05/2012 07:46

Yy I think almost any pram can be rescued if you are just a bit brave.I can still remember my heart pounding the first time I took seat fabric off a frame with a screw driver.

Not nearly so much drama and excitement in my life now I've recovered Grin

DaisyMaisyJessicaEmily · 29/05/2012 08:55

I miss having a project though Sad and the buzz from buying something tatty for £20 and refurbing it all day, selling it on Ebay the next day for £80 [sigh]

issyocean · 29/05/2012 09:17

Me too very tempted to trawl local carboots.

To remove mould from fabric we soak it for a few hours in a bucket of diluted milton/alternative cheaper own brand.

We did this with a baby swing seat (did that overnight) and also with a childs rucksack where some breadsticks had got wet and grown everywhere in the bottom of the bag.

They came up a treat, cannot see any marks at all and also there was no damage to the materials and neither did it bleach the colours out in any way.

Good luck!
